Big Cat Habitat - Tortoise

“Do students in the Galapagos study tortoise law?”

A tortoise crawls into a bar and says to the barman, "Have you seen my Dad?"
"I don't know," says the barman. "What does he look like?"

A disturbed tortoise crawls into a police station.

"I've been robbed by a murderous gang of snails, he announces.

"Calm down," says a cop. "Just tell us everything that happened."

Yes, I know I am not a tortoise, but it was just another day in parrot-dise and I was the only parrot Madsnapper took a photo of. I must say she a-parrotly blurred my photo .

Good Fence Thursday-Big Cat Habitat

These fences are found in Big Cat Habitat, not a zoo, but a rescue sanctuary for wild life that cannot be turned into the wild and for abused animals. This rescue survives by donations only.

These guys were not foaling around, they were digging into that hay. They must have been there awhile because they look like a stable population.

The horse said to the camel, any pal of yours is a Palomino.

Seeing donkey, horse, camel, pony and zebra, all living and eating peacefully together can sure stirrup my emotions.  

Did you know A horse needs 15 pounds of hay per day..

We were told you do NOT want a chimp or monkey in your house, they like to paint the walls and NOT with paint... the very reason he was wearing a diaper.. Wild Animals are not meant to be pets.

Male Emus incubate the eggs, one of which is the size of a dozen chicken eggs... the eat plants, grains, insects and ROCKS.. yes. Rocks, it aids their digestion... they live 10 to 20 years in the wild.

Llama explain all this, there were goats there to at the Big Cat Habitat. Big Cat Habitat is NOT a zoo. I is a wild life rescue sanctuary.

Tiger

These photos were taken at Big Cat Habitat, a wild life rescue for abused animals or animals that were raised by humans and can not be set free.  This is not a zoo and is only open twice a week to raise money to feed them. They have natural habitats to live in, not cages.

These cats are looking good and feline good...and I think they are awfully purrretty....

Liger

A Liger is a lion bred with a tiger. This big guy could look me in the face, he weighs 1000 pounds and is the biggest they have ever seen and still growing. He does not have a mane because the mane is just for fighting off other males and he has no one to fight. He is a male liger, 7 years old.. Males like mules can not produce babies.

I think they should have named this big guy Jean Clawwed Van Damn.

I am smitten with these kittens.... Joining TexWisGirl for Good Fence Thursday and this IS a good fence, actually there were three fences between me and Brutus... and a guard to keep people outside the fencing.

Big Cat Habitat -Bears OH MY

Just bear with me. I know you are all pre-beared for this.

I almost got to close to the fence, I bearly made it, I nearly had a Kodiak arrest...this could have been a grizzly situation and I could have gone bear-erk.

I can't bear this at all, I think we are polar opposites.. If I tried to hug you it would be panda-monium and I am not kola-fied to work with you. But I do love you all and would love to give you a bear hug.

We visited The Big Cat Habitat in Sarasota. It is so much more than big cats. It is a Rescue for Wild Animals and is supported by donations. Please visit the link. there are videos and lots of wonderful photos. Unlike my feeble attempts shooting through the wires.

If you are local, I would suggest a visit.. Fun and educational. If you love animals, don't miss it.

To meet a few of the cats click here... Big Cats  the Show was a blast and my face hurt when we left  because of smiling the whole time.
This is a rescue sanctuary  only and NOT a Zoo.. it is only open a few hours a week in order to raise funds to feed the rescue animals.

None of their animals can be released into the wild, they were pets that were abused or given up because wild animals should never be kept as pets.

Big Cat Habitat offers life-long sanctuary supported by income from the demonstrations and from donations.
