Volunteer Moss Roses

This is the stump that was removed so the bobcat could get in the back yard. The flowers were all destroyed by Hurricanes Helene and Milton and completed by the bobcat that took our back yard tree and this stump. I did manage to save the 3 palms because I had moved them to the front yard against the wall. . 2 weeks before Helene, I took photos of our volunteer rose moss. There were 11 of them, pink, yellow and white. They just suddenly appeared, growing in the ground behind the stump and around it.
All of them were from prior years of moss rose on the stump. I had plans to pot them, but all but one were smashed to nothing by the bobcat.
I did find one still living but have no heart for transplanting it.

Bob had a really bad fall yesterday, i think from dehydration and over doing, and now has many cuts and a missing 4 inch by 3-inch sheet of skin. It looked like a bloody Halloween scene, since he is on blood thinner.  That was Wed morning and today as I type this on Friday we are up and he is slightly bloody.
Ah LIFE!
these photos have been in drafts since Oct 1st and were taken the last day of Sept.

this one has 1/3 of it that survived the Bobcat and I don't like it so it will just live where it is

they were so  beautiful all around the stump. I may take the smashed ones and throw them on the stump in the back yard

the umbrellas palm survived the storms as did the 2 small palms

Done and Done, Tuff Old Lady

I am On the Job with my watering can empty Clorine bottle, and the found-on curb Palms are beautiful

The Mexican heather is growing quickly, and the moss rose/purslane are blooming their pretty selves out daily.

I had to sit and rest for an hour after fighting with a bag of soil and a few plants, bending and stooping and lifting pots about, but I did it . I felt every bone and muscle in my body the next day but

I AM an old cracked pot myself
Each year I plant Moss Rose, or Rose Moss, or purslane/portulaca this is

remember the cracked pot? the one living on the stump for years and years? It is now in 40 pieces and in the bottom of these pots to help with drainage. I buy every summer and they bloom for months.

they come in peppermint, orange variegated, pink and yellow, my favorite together, white. I have had all these colors. I buy what they have. they only had yellow this year. They are cheap flowers and are my favorites. they make me feel joy when I look at them. Below are a few of the photos from the link.

they root like crazy and will fill a pot in not time from a few pieces like this one. no need to put in water, just break off pieces and stick in the mud. They only bloom if they get lots of sun

Nature Friday again the back yard

Nada! Nothing! to post!  I decided to stop posting until I could find something new to post.

I noticed the above purslane had a green space in it. That space is full of buds, the candy stripe flowers. When purchased it was white, stripe, pink. You saw that in a prior post. All blooming at once.
Moss Roses have lived on our stump in the front yard for YEARS!
Due to the size of the oak tree, the stump that it lived on, doesn't get 6 hours of sun this year, which is a requirement for blooming.
they will live in the shade but not bloom.

I moved it to the back yard and for some reason, the pink and white blooms daily,
the stripe flowers do not.

I changed the perspective of my phone, and you can't tell.

today there are 3 striped blooms at bottom and 3 at top and of course MOI! Shadow

It's still pretty but is odd to me. Bob thinks it has to do with where the sun falls on it.
The plant needs full sun for no less than 6 hours and as much as 10.
there is nowhere in the yard at this time of year it will get more than 5 unless I move it twice a day, and who can remember to do that?

Hope this works Rosy, for Nature Friday at The LLB Life with Rosy and Sunny
to be continued.

Moss Rose Rosy on Nature Friday

Some of you will remember I always plant Moss Rose for the summer months. Also called portulaca, purslane, Rose Moss. I love it. Above is last years that died back during winter and came back like this.

I saw a planter full of purslane, Wal-Marts name for it. I was shopping on Mother's day so put one in my basket. I had no idea what color it would be. At 6 AM it was closed up type.

I sat it on the stump top with the 3 pots that came back even though this is not an annual.
                                                              WOW WOW WOW

It has three different colors, brilliant pink, white and one Peppermint!

If you want to see Moss Rose all the way back to 2013, the label has 14, including this one.
Moss rose label shows at bottom of post.

Crack Pot and The Stump

Its Nature Friday on some blogs and what is more nature than pretty flowers. They have doubled in size in just a few days.
I did not repair the pot, I like it cracked, and intend to have flowers growing out of the crack.
there are 3 rooting,, soon to be more.

Most of all I love this stump... Nature's beauty, left from the tree that was hit by lightning and cost us 1500.00 to have it taken down. He wanted another 500 to take out the stump. I LOVE IT! So left it.
NOTE! the house of five cars are all at home at 7 am

Blindshot! Flower Friday

Each time I pull in our driveway these flowers wave at me... Last week, I used my cell phone and madly snapped these blind shots. the sun was blinding, and I had no idea what the camera was seeing.

Todays Questions.....   1. How are you feeling right now? 2. Are you emotional?

I am feeling good about asking all of you 2 questions and happy with my blind shots.

YES, I am emotional,  I cry when happy, sad, mad. Movies make me cry. do NOT let me watch a movie in which an animal is harmed in any way...When I tell a sad story, whether about me and mine or about someone else I tear up and cry.

My biopsy on skin cancer came back, as Basil Carcinoma, she needs to scrape and cauterize and all will be well. Since I have Appointment for PDT light treatment on Sept 11, she will do it the same day.  This will be the 1st anniversary of IRMA the hurricane.  My Own Party

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) uses a drug and a special type of light. ... You absorb the drug which makes your cells sensitive to light. Your doctor then shines a special light on the treatment area which destroys the cancer cells.

Yellow Moss Rose

Our Moss Rose is blooming its heart out right now. Bob found a few half dead pieces in an old pot and threw them in this bucket. Voila! Blooms In November and December. Odd even for Florida.
If you love Moss Rose in all colors, I have MORE HERE... just in case you are bored and need something to do.
