Moss Rose Rosy on Nature Friday

Some of you will remember I always plant Moss Rose for the summer months. Also called portulaca, purslane, Rose Moss. I love it. Above is last years that died back during winter and came back like this.

I saw a planter full of purslane, Wal-Marts name for it. I was shopping on Mother's day so put one in my basket. I had no idea what color it would be. At 6 AM it was closed up type.

I sat it on the stump top with the 3 pots that came back even though this is not an annual.
                                                              WOW WOW WOW

It has three different colors, brilliant pink, white and one Peppermint!

If you want to see Moss Rose all the way back to 2013, the label has 14, including this one.
Moss rose label shows at bottom of post.

WE GOT 6 MINUTES OF HARD RAIN WED EVENING AND AGAIN ON THURSDAY MID AFTEROON. THE FIRST RAIN IN 9 MONTHS. PICTURES/STORY ON MONDAY

It is a very bonny thing indeed and you have the perfect spot for it! And rain after a drought is definitely something to celebrate. YAM xx

They're pretty. My ex mother in law always called them portulaca.

Those stripey ones are very jazzy aren't they. We planted one at our Greek office last year. It flowered and flowered. Did you dance in the rain? Don't you just love the smell of rain? Xxx F

My mom never grew Moss Rose, and I never have either but I don't know why. We had a neighbor that had it and it always sort of fascinated me.

WOWZER! I've never seen anything quite like that.
Like Mother Nature's trying to make amends for her bad behavior!

Wow to the beautiful burst of color on the stump. Practically Perfect.
My goodness, that's a tiny squirt of rain but glad you got even that. Huge drought for you guys.
Off to Lynne's for a early morning stint today. Karen has an early appointment. Hope the weather cooperates and we can be outside for a while.

And I always enjoy your moss rose too.
YAY for rain for FL. We have a monsoon predicted for tomorrow 70% of hard rain and wind ~3" here and 5"+ farther east.

Hello Sandra :=)
I'm so glad you got some badly needed rain. I know the Moss Rose as Portulaca, it's beautiful. All the different coloured flowers are lovely.

I love the flowers and am excited about your rain. Fingers crossed for more…droughts are depressing.

Oh my gosh, it is gorgeous! I will call it peppermint stripe. Y0u really got your money's worth!! W.M. has a bunch of baskets hanging out front. Now I wonder if any are Moss rose, or it maybe does not grow in this area? I am going to copy down all it's names, and take a look today when we go. I love your last two pics, adorable!!!!

Praise God for your rain!!! Your flowers are so pretty and God surprised you with that new one! I use to grow Moss Rose long ago. They say you can eat wild purslane in salads. I do have some of that but I've never tried to eat it -yet. I do use wild things sometimes and son Dean calls them Linda's Weed Salads.

Shopping at 6:00 in the morning! I can't EVEN consider that.....
Love you, Sandra!

I love seeing your planter again. I do love the moss roses so much. They were my dads favorite. Love that they came back. Our strawberries often do that.
