Loving Hands For Skeeter

Hi, my name is Skeeter, I am a minature donkey.  I am "in training" to become a therapy donkey when I grow up. the thing is, I will not ever Grow Up! this is my size. I am six months old so I will get older, just not bigger.

last week I saw my first person in a chair that had wheels, I was just a tad timid at first, but as soon as those loving hands started petting me, I LOVED it.
One nice lady squeezed my nose, it felt good.

No, this is not a headless lady and my PR/agent/photographer Did know she cut it off. see it was on purpose This Time. She told me she could not show all those smiling faces because of Privacy Laws.

Donkeys only have 3 laws. Eat all you can when you can, Grass is greener on the other side of whatever, Get as many pets a day as possible.

OOOOOhhhhh that feels so good! I could stand here all day

On lady went back inside to get her camera. I think she wanted to remember me, don't you?

Next Stop...Rehab

Friday we took Skeeter for a visit residents at a Long Term Care and Rehab Facility

This is my friend Rich. He is also my Photoshop Professor/tutor. He is also responsible for pushing me to learn photoshop. He would not let me quit when I got frustrate.

Rich was outside waiting and was the first person to see Skeeter. Skeeter wanted no part the chair. (remember it was his first time seeing one)
About 10 minutes later, Skeeter pulled on his rope and towed Kathy over to Rich, I stood breathless to see what he would do.

He walked up to Rich and reached out and touched his hand as though to say "I'm sorry, I did not mean to pull back" go ahead, pet me. That started the PetAThon. He walked up and down and in between and let eveyone feel his soft ears and pet to their heart content.

Rich is kind enough to give me permission to use him in my post. Thank you Rich for being the Star of today's post and for teaching me and pushing me to get better in PS.

Lovin Skeeter.....

The Joy of it All.......Click on photos to enlarge, click back to return to post.

The most prevalent color for Miniature Donkeys is gray-dun which consists of a gray colored body, light colored nose - or dark colored nose -, light colored belly and inside legs, with a dark color dorsal stripe down the back and over the shoulders. The dorsal stripe is known as the donkeys cross.

donkeys can range in color from black and white and everything in between. This includes chestnut/sorrels, white donkeys, "spotted" donkeys.

Donkeys do not breed true to color. Never knowing what color foal will be produced is part of the excitement of having foals

Skeeter School Saga

Guess what? I am now a Donkey Agent/PR person for Skeeter the minature donkey (this means I find places for him to visit, and my pay is I get to pet him and hold his rope).
See labels on sidebar under donkeys for former post on Skeeter

Kathy is training Skeeter to be a therapy donkey and intends to have him visit Nursing Facilites and schools. Last week he made his debut at

Skeeter arrived in his travel trailer, unloaded with help from Kathy and her dad, Jim. Walked into the school yard and waited for the fun to begin.

Minatures are known for their loving personalities and make great pets and are perfect for therapy pets as you will see for the next few post. He loved the children but they loved him more.

First he visited the toddlers, and I wish I had a recording of the excited sounds coming from them.

The children were asked to line up and listen to Kathy tell them a few donkey facts. After the talk, each child walked past and petting or hugged Skeeter.
She told them donkeys like hay to eat and they can live to be 30 years or older. Males are called Jacks and Females are Jenny's and Skeeter is very happy on his ranch with 7 horses and 2 dogs to play with.
Donkeys need company of other donkeys or horses to be happy.

(DON'T MISS TOMORROW'S POST AND YOU WILL SEE THE JOY OF PETTING A DONKEY)
