Papaya Blooms and Legs

Bob planted a Papaya seed in a bucket many moons ago, we have no idea how many. It has had flowers several times and they always fall off. This one has stayed, and now the bloom has a fruit pod in the middle. Above is one side below is the other side of same fruit/flower. There is another flower about to bloom next to it, and I will TRY to remember to get a shot of it.

I said to Bob... What in Carnation are you doing? are you pollen my leg  orchid-ing me? Get out of my photo. Are you all digging this?

At least the photo bomber that stole the focus from the flower to his legs, has legs worthy of a photo

The Papaya that lives in the hospital..

The Plant Hospital is open for business... I could not restrain myself because of the shadows..

See those 3 sticks? they are OLD, USELESS, Worn OUT mops and a broom... I think Bob thinks if he leaves them standing in the plant hospital they will rejuvenate...

this is the space between two fences, where the garbage cans, ladders and lawn mower live, and for some reason a sick plant placed here will get better in no time at all...

The Papaya tree lives here because Bob has planted so many bushes and trees it has to live in the bucket. If you are totally bored with life and want to know more.. click on the Papaya  label below because this is my FIFTH post on it, from when he planted the seed in a Crock Pot butter tub.

It is now almost 8 feet tall.

QUESTION  ... do you or your spouse keep all old mops,  brooms, shovels etc? Bob does.. they are every where...

5:30 AM UPDATE: Tropical Storm Andrea is looming and we have half a tree down in our side yard, it missed the house, just caught the edge, will have photos sometime. If I am not commenting or posting it will be do to power outage. We are under tornado watch, had one touch down in our county, but we are fine and waiting for it to pass. I did not sleep more than an hour last night, the tree went down at 10:40 and with gusting winds throwing rain i could not sleep.

Bob and the Papaya Stalk

Mid Summer of 2012.. Bob came home with a papaya seed that a friend gave him. we have NO where to plant a tree that will get 20 to 30 feet tall. He planted it  in a bucket.

See the little blooms above, they open into a flower and fall off, they are supposed to make a papaya fruit.

The thing is growing like a weed, taller than my head now, in a bucket. He asked Sam why the fruit flower is falling off. He said, Oh Sorry it is a male plant, if the flowers fall off, male plants don't make fruit.

I found that some trees are male and some female and male plants and males do not have fruit.

The male tree has lots of beautiful flowers, but is only for looks.. HUMMM.. does this apply to Bob? hummmmm

I wish his friends would stop giving him seeds, below is one of 2 mango seeds that he planted in a bucket, this one is about 4 feet tall....

What part of We have no where to plant another tree does he not understand?

Vertigo- Lessons Learned Three

Papaya Tree in a bucket
I AM BACK to almost Normal and have been for 3 days, I went to a specialist on Tuesday and the Vertigo was caused by a virus, WHO KNEW? not me.... yesterday and today I went back to the gym. These lessons I have been posting are from last week, I did not start posting until I was better. I visited my friend Rich yesterday and his cousin and his friend are both suffering the same thing I had, so I am thinking the virus can spread. YIKES

Interesting facts from The Burning Spinning Bed....

1. If you rent a 500 square foot apartment with a bathroom smaller than my shower, in Seoul South Korea, it will cost you 8000.00 cash down and 600 per month. If you rent a 700 sq foot apartment, the cost is 25,000 for the year. Payable BEFORE you move in. they charge rent for the lease year paid up front.

2. If you watch HGTV from 5 AM to 10 AM plus 4 movies from Lifetime Channel for Women it WILL fry your brain.  (this post proves my point)

3. If you put your laptop on your tummy while laying flat in a spinning bed, YOU WILL post it on the wrong blog.... warning. if you only have one blog, who knows where it might get posted?

4. If you have Vertigo, do NOT stand up and tilt your head back to put in eye drops.

5. Ten days of bed rest WILL cause you to PONDER... coming soon What She Pondered

Carica Papaya

Giving you a break from beach shots, never fear, they will be back
notice the difference in the leaves? they are all on the same plant

While climbing around in our jungle with Coolpix in hand (shocker! right?) I found this plant.
Bob what is this?

Bob "I planted a Papaya seed"

Sandra "WHAT?"  it's a TREE, under the POWER LINES.... it will get to tall, besides I despise Papaya"

Bob "don't worry about it, it will be fine"

Sandra "I disagree.   My opinions may change, but not the fact that I am right
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong"

(note: the both be wrong is a quote I found and have been saving for the right post. WORKS HERE

. Found on Wikipedia this info

The papaya is a large tree-like plant, with a single stem growing from 5 to 10 metres (16 to 33 ft) tall
Photo from Wikipedia of what we can expect. are you SEEING this tree THIRTY THREE FEET TALL?
Underneath the power lines? any one have an idea on how to measure how high up the lines are?

I AM RIGHT AND I KNOW IT.... we shall see what we shall see

Forget the Buckets...

Arriving in our driveway, I waited patiently for the huge electric door to crawl up, and as I waited, I looked through the garage and out the back door that was standing open.

"WHAT is THAT" Sandra said
"That is the yellow pepper seeds, I planted" said Johnny Appleseed Bob
"I feel a POST coming on" said Sandra

(START LOL NOW)

Have I mentioned we are the king and queen of recycle? click on lnk to see all the  things we re-use
the seeds are in butter tubs, on a lid from a bucket, on top of a shoe rack that I TOLD him to put in the garbage.
Are you wondering WHY this adorable face is in the pepper seed post?
Baby Girl LOVES her greens, she devoured the 6 inch tall , sweet, tender and very green plants of the papaya Bob planted.

Now he grows them in what we call our SAFE ZONE which is our area between two fences, that keeps the dogs from the electric power meter reader.
Since the sun only shines on certain places at certain times, Hubby of the Green Thumb (no photos yet of the thumb) created this contraption that can be moved to follow the sun beams.
If anyone is interested in purchasing one (the contraption, not the dog, she is FREE), just send me your check and address. HA HA
