Flamingo continued

Flamingos often stand on one leg. The reason for this behavior is not fully known. A leg is tucked beneath the body, because the flamingo like some other animals has the ability to have half of its body go into a state of sleep, and when one side is rested, the flamingo will swap leg and then let the other half sleep, but this has not been proven. It is often suggested that this is done in part to keep the legs from getting wet, in addition to conserving energy.

At first glance, the flamingos appear to be all pink. there is a hidden striking feature that is only visible when the Flamingo is in flight or spreading its wings
There are 12 principal flight feathers located on each wing. These black feathers are visible when the wings are extended.

Flamingos are very gregarious, very loud and they enjoy being in crowds and socializing with each other.

Tampa Air Port Flamingo

I saw this above photo of the Tampa Florida Airport new Art Installation in an article HERE.
I should be installed by Spring of 2022. the ceiling is glass, reflecting on the floor and makes it look like the people are wading underwater and the giant flamingo is wading and feeding.

I love Flamingos, and here are a few of my on Flamingo Photos from my Archives.
These flamingos live in Jungle Gardens, Sarasota Florida about 12 miles from my home.

Irma UPDATE

This flamingo lives on my cousins screen pool area.... Irma has sucked all the color out except for the flamingo. The lunatic and lunapic had a lot to do with that. Color spotting is in the list under Adjust if you go to Lunapic to try it. For some reason, when saving this filter it saves to a gif and must be changed to Jpeg with another program.

We are alive, we are waiting. our winds will pick up at 9 to noon to 50 mph and  8 pm to 2  Am Monday it will be slamming us up to 90 to 120 mph.  Power will go out, just when is the question. I added FPL to my cell phone because they want us to report all downed lines ASAP. I assume that means so they can turn off the power there if it is still on. so now I have NEW scenes playing out in my head. I am praying for Irma to shift a little further west of us, but as it is at 3 am Sunday she is coming here
This will be my last post until it is over.. I will update FB by cell if I can but will be saving battery power on that to. I will post one word only, OK will be that word.

Judy in the Jungle

The residents of Jungle Gardens just know when humans appear they will have paid 3.25 for a small bag of food.....  they JUST KNOW! '

put a little in the hand and they will eat and eat and eat....flamingo's, ducks and swans and fish and turtle, but that is tomorrows story.
Look at the flamingo head, they turn their heads upside down to swallow, they scoff up by laying the beak sideways in our hands and boy does it feel funny. then they do the upside down pretzel swallow thingy
Squawk! Judy, hand it over, where's the food??? Sorry, it is all gone, no matter how much you stare into my eyes buddy
No, not until I get your photo, smile pretty
Well, the flamingo did not smile, but Judy did and so did I safely BEHIND the camera
Flamingo is thinking"what is this snapping thing? where's the food?"
