Missy and Mister Duck Update

Since the last update on MissyMister 6 days ago, Missy and Mister our resident Mottled Ducks, disappeared for 48 hours and I thought she was somewhere sitting on eggs, since she appeared to be in broody setting mode, the day before, spending 5 hours hiding in the grass the day before they vanishes.

On June 16, they appeared and have now been HOME for 48 hours. The above photos taken yesterday, June 17, she spent most of the day in that tall grass. Mister came and went. There is nothing in the grass but grass and duck. She is in setting mode but has no eggs. Fine with me, the ducklings would not survive, because they are favorites of raccoons and we have three in the yard next door, sometimes in our yard.

I have said before, I don't feed them, we have plenty growing for them to eat. But unable to leave the yard, I feared they would not have enough and this morning, on our walk, I saw many weeds next door that they love.

I picked the seeds off the grass that has gone to seed, they love it, and put a few stalks and one flower in a bowl, you can see it in the first photo today.
I was over joyed when Missy was first at the seed dish, and Mister quickly followed. They would pick a seed, dip in the water pan, go back for another and each ate 4 times. per the internet, it says to remove the pan after 15 minutes from the time they stop eating. I place all the ones I cut in a glass jar with lid, and we will see how this goes.. Yesterday they disappeared and I found them behind the rain barrel eating the tips off my aloe plant, almost all the tips are gone.
The flowers are safe, they are Indian Blanket wild flowers.

Lest you think I think of nothing but ducks, 😏😏😃 Update on the Humans and Canine, is the same old same old which is a good thing.

Aftermath! Did you miss me?

The day after I was sick for two days, (Mama calls it Aftermath,) we were all exhausted.
My  Mama/Photographer, AKA Daddy/Canine Caregiver, went to bed for 2 hours and when she came out from her nap, she found us like this.

She can't take photos in the dark and I am always sick on cold nights. She follows me step by step.

This is her flannel gown/socks/sweater follow Beau in the dark when sick outfit.
Can you believe she took the trash bin to the curb in this outfit?
Yep! She did.

We still have no grass, I need grass when I am sick, I wander, pace and hunt grass, a bite here, a bite there. We go inside and Mama holds me and hugs me and talks to me and then we go back and wander the yard. She carries her cell phone around her neck in case she falls down and we need to call 911

These photos were taken a few weeks ago, you will have to image the DARK part.

No grass here, I am moving on,

You can see the grass up by the hose is green.

Grass from the hurricane (BeauSpeak)

HurricaneMilton grew Bahia grass every where in 2024.
Above is our side yard in August 2025 when blessed rain came every day for a week. The rain never returned and still has not.

All photos of me were taken on January 5, 2026. we are now half way through January. I heard Mama says that to Daddy and a Wow

Now Mama waters this patch, on the other side of the yard and its growing

And she has grass in pots, and we are grateful for grass in pots

and when she waters the pots, it makes the grass and weeds grow in daddy's junk yard pile.

I have 3 places with grass. and a hope for more. Mama is praying to find a handyman/woman she can pay to do things she can't do
to be continued

we are joining Brian's Home for Thankful Friday because we are thankful for the grass we have and I am thankful for My Mama growing grass and she is thankful we had no hurricane in 2025, and Mama and daddy are thankful for ME being here with them for 5 years and 3 months. My biggest thankful is my Furever home with Mama and Daddy. I was sick again last night, its been 2 weeks since the last episode.

Grazing With Beau (BeauSpeak)

On January 5, 2026, Mama said, Beau, don't get upset. We need some Current Photos of you to post on the blog. This is a new year, which means we need New Pictures.
I was so busy eating the grass my Mama grew just for me, I did not even know she was taking photos.

this small patch of grass is where my Mama throws her dishpan water to grow grass for when my tummy needs grass. In Florida, grass grows year round, but it needs lots of water. Mama is growing grass in 3 parts of the yard, Just For My Consumption.

You can see in the last photo that everything is dirt except where she throws the dishwater, 3 times a day..  this is not my favorite grass, but I eat it anyway.

Beau Grass (BeauSpeak) 1

Behold, the lawn man cometh. by Beau with a little help from Mama

Before: the grass was up to my nose,
After: grass is gone,  where to, I just don't know.

Before

After the mower man came

before it was tall, and lots to eat,
now it is short and way to neat.
I like my grass, at mouth height, you see,
Alas, it is not up to ME.
It is easier to pee,
and my poop, it is better for mama to see.

Higher than the shovel, shorter than the rake,
its all gone now, nothing for me in which to partake

Dear Diary

Dear Diary, on Tuesday 8/22/2023, two weeks before my 79th Birthday, I the MadSnapper, did the following Manual Labor.
Walked Beau and at 7:15 handed him his peanut butter bone, leaving him happy on the living room carpet, I went outside to Cut the grass path and the grass in the back yard using the MANUAL gas-powered lawn mower. Bob did the front yard.
I confess, he cranked the mower for me...but last time I did crank the lawn mower all by myself.
I then Swept the messy grass/dirt cuttings off the deck and off the driveway using the above MANUAL but NOT a push broom and then pushed the MANUAL carpet sweeper over the 600 sq feet of carpet to pick up the grass cuttings I tracked in the house.
Tomorrow Beau and I walk the path I made for us; we have walked it since Oct 13th, 2020.

I asked AI for an illustration of an old woman pushing a lawnmower. I removed the word old and look what I got. AI needs to get with the new world of old women in capris, leggings and t-shirts.
I wonder how old AI is????

PS this was the other Woman, at least we KNOW AI IS MALE
It looks like she may have cut her left foot off with the mower and is really strong because she is pushing the mower with NO HANDS.
