The Mobile Mechanic came again

The Mobile Mechanic came again on April 16th and this time he was disguised as a Handy Man.

The fence he is in front of Had old rotted fence that the storm wrecked and it was leaning on the neighbors new fence, covered in vines and STUFF and  a long the edge was a 2 foot wire fence that had been there for 10 years  to keep the dogs from going under the old fence. We thought it would be a simple roll up. NOT! the roots had wrapped around it and it took 20 to clear the wood fence and an hour to get that wire fence out and rolled up and to the curb where by night fall someone else was using it.

He cleared that one section, reinstalled a fascia board the storm blew loose , plugged the hole into our other neighbors yard, its their fence, and

was able to plug the whole between neighbor new fence and neighbor old fence and there is no way Beau can get out.
Keith, also put a brand new handle on the broken handle to the pipe that is the cut off to shut water to our house if we had a  leak. My peace of mind is complete. This young man has put a battery in the dead truck, hydraulics on my hood and trunk to keep them from falling on my head, new handles that allows me to open the back doors on my SUV and repaired holes, and water turn off in 3 visits. He is so reasonable in price I feel like I am cheating him.
Keith even text me yesterday know they were to pick up all the trash from the curb and asked if he needed to come put it all at the curb. I assured him he did not, that it was all out their waiting.  He said if I need help with something heavy or lightbulbs in ceiling, anything I can't do myself to text him and he will come.

Plus, my new friend Ruby pruned 1/4 of a tree in 20 minutes yesterday and it is at the curb waiting for pickup and she is walking with Beau and I tomorrow morning and coming prepared with gardening tools and we are going to finish clearing the fence to the fence line. She works for friendship, no cash needed... plus we have fun while doing it. she will pull, bend and chop, I will drag stuff around and pick ups sticks with my grabber... She wants me to sit in a chair and watch which I will NOT.
I am so thankful the Lord sent me these new people to help me and be my friends.

can you tell which one is new? ha ha

The Neighbors Fence-The End (almost)

The neighbor's fence is finished and has been since June 12th, I took photos and forgot to post them until a blog friend asked about the fence. We have put all repair ($$$$) on hold until we find out if the meds will help Bob.

Our yard waste goes in the blue bin, the big stick is one of two Sea-grape sticks I saved for walking sticks, after hurricane Milton.

That stick is perfect to hold on to while bending over picking up sticks, I can brace myself and pick up about 6 sticks at one bend over and not fall on my head.

The schefflera tree is the one just to the left of the blue bin. the entire stick of leaves drops, and the leaves come off. Bob has always just mulched the sticks and leaves and no need to pick them up.
Once, my neighbor Willie saw me picking up sticks and said Whatcha doing over there, DieHard.
the new name he gave me after hurricane clean up

When the young men who installed the fence, built this barricade, with a gate they took down from the neighbors yard and they left a half section of our leaning rotten fence, because if it is moved, there is a hole just the right size for a big fat nosy dog to dive through.
Baby Girl, now an angel, was the most stubborn dog on the planet

Dan will remove the gate and our fence and patch the hole, next time he comes to work

our old fence, had wire all the way across to keep Angel Baby Girl from digging under the fence. She is angel now but was not when on this earth. I took the photos to show there is 2 feet between our fence line and the neighbors.

I filled the space between the strangler fig tree, with debris until Dan comes, I don't want Beau on the other side of it until the hole is fixed. the space you see is not an outlet, there is a chain-link fence there, our fence. Moving debris is how I met the granddaddy long legs that climbed my arm.

Beau Smiles BeauSpeak

Tuesday night, I poked my nose through this hole, I heard Mama laughing, and when we went in the house, she told Daddy, that the look of surprise on my face was priceless. I did not know there was a huge beautiful yard on the other side of the fence. Mama told me there are 3 yards I can't see.
This is the way the fence looked Tuesday Night to Mama, butt she added me to the photo above..

Mama said she wants you to see the beauty of a rustic old fence that she and daddy   put up 30 years ago. She will show you the new fence when they are done, Day three and they still are not done and they had just removed all the old fence and half the yard was open to the other yard, and I did my job on leash, the wet one not the solid. ha ha

If you enlarge you can see all the old fence is gone for 3 sections and I could just walk right out, the boom/flash warned a storm was coming and Mama was upset because they would have to quit and leave it over night.
They stopped where they were working and the three of them went bam bam bam bam really fast and when they left
I WAS SAFE.

Mama is very happy and she added a few of the beautiful old vintage fence with Nature All Over it. I think Rosy and Sunny will love these photos and give 4 paws up that IS Nature. The fence looks like a snaggle tooth, due to the Nature of many hurricanes and Raccoons and Possums climbing back and forth did the rest. Rotted fence breaks when they climb on it.

The Smile Continued

Smile from yesterday's post is is continued today

To jog your memory, the above is our back yard fence from 3 years ago, Hurricane Ian, leaned our fence against the neighbor's new fence and took down his giant banyan tree. Ian removed the whole fence across the street, and they dragged their gate to the curb, and I dragged it over here and we blocked the hole to keep Beau contained in a safe environment. The fence was ok, ugly but still a fence. Fast Forward to this past Oct and this is how it looked after Hurricane Milton.

I can hear you thinking, so what is there to SMILE about in these photos. Trust me this eyesore has been driving me crazy for 3 plus years

Yesterday, at noon, we sat consuming our lunch and talking about how well we did at the dermatolgist and transferring Bob from place to place and suddenly
What was that? bob says What was What? I say "sounded like a sledgehammer, in the two-story house behind us. Bob says I don't hear anything.

I race to the door and there is a BABY with a sledgehammer, Smashing the Neighbors New fence, I describe in detail to Bob. He rants on about the fence is only 2 years old, and I say remember last week when loud music played from the back yard and I said, Jim never makes noise like that, and I checked the county records and that house sold to new owner 14 months ago... Bob says No, I don't remember that. (dementia)

I say OH NO! if they take down that fence our fence is leaning on it will fall down on them and they will leave that part of the yard with NO fence and Beau can get out and the pit bulls next door can get in our yard. Knuff Said, there was more, but skip that part.

I race to the door and over to the fence and say HELLOOOO! and startled the handsome baby with the hammer and make him jump. SMILE now. He might have been 30 but I doubt it. He SMILED really big and said HI!

I started with I am 80, my husband is 88 and he is in a wheelchair and can't walk, and we have no way to move that fence, it's been like those 3 years. I think he might be another ANGEL. he was smiling and laughing.

I explained the problem and he leaned through to see our fence and he may have said OH MY! He listened to every word I said, and I said could you do this part last? to leave our fence up and could you if I pay you remove what is leaning on the fence and take it with you? I will pay for it if you can.

He said I think we can, I will ask my boss and see what he says.  I come back in and tell bob, and he starts ranting, while I am SMILING about everyone is a crook, they will want a thousand dollars (dementia words) and I calmly finish my lunch with a SMILE in my heart because I have wanted that gone for 3 years.

20 minutes later, I hear voices, and it sounds like it's in our yard, I walk to the slider doors, and another young baby man is standing at the door talking on his cell. He says Hi, I just talked to our boss, and he said we can do what you asked, and the charge will be 150.00. Is that ok? I am smiling so big I can hardly talk.  He says give me your contact info and i will put in my phone.

An hour later, after a lot of bamming going on, I hear voices and race to the door in time to see the two of them putting 2 sections of the fence they were removing on our side, and screwing them together

When they left at five, the old fence was gone, and the only thing standing was our snaggle tooth 30-year-old fence.

They are working as I type this, and I am smiling and waiting to see how this story ends.

this is what it looks like now, if you enlarge you can see through the snaggle tooth fence that is ours and the new one they removed yesterday. Beau is safe and when they are gone, I HOPE ours will be too.

I am dying to know just what fence they will put up as a replacement. I hope its wood, but am guessing white plastic, and as long as its a fence I don't care.

The Fence is Standing Part 2, The Barricade

The barricade that Sandra Made, I blocked access to it the day after Milton. Beau was afraid of all the junk. I dragged everything you see in all the photos and built this barricade all by myself.

I put it there 2 month ago and I moved it all out and did my Pioneer Woman Thing and can't believe I did it. And I can still walk. ha ha

I feel so much better now that the fence is done and soon, I will show you what I have to do NEXT.

The Fence is Standing!

this is the way Milton left our back fence, that belongs to our neighbor and is 25 years old, we paid half when they wanted to take down chain link and put up privacy fence. we regret that, but hindsight is 2020 and we had 25 years of privacy.

Two months after the storm, we went out to remove the barricade I had dragged there to keep Beau contained in our yard. While Bob took apart a 20-foot metal pole the tree people threw on the fence, the blue line you see above, I dragged all the barricade away, including branches, an old swing, and boards.
Bob says, go in their yard and push on the fence; to stand it up so I can brace it. i said there is no way I can get to it without falling and I can't push it up if I do get to it.
Well Go TRY! I can't do it either.
if you enlarge you can see the neighbor's yard has not been touched in many years, it's a jungle over there. I knocked on their door and asked him if I could go in the back yard and push the fence up. He said yes and by the time I got in their back yard, his wife came running out on the porch yelling, no, I don't want you to work in our yard. As she got closer, she said I am afraid you will get hurt.
SO WAS I.
She said show me what you want done and I will do it. She is 30 years younger than I am and knows our ages.
While saying Thank you Lord in my head, I watched her try to dig through the jungle to get to the fence and said I will go on the other side and help Bob.
There was no way we could have done this without her help.
She pushed it up, I held my side and bob wired 3 places together, so it was standing, not steady but UP.
She did the same to the other hole and said she had to go to work. Our neighbors are very nice. He is disabled and can't walk, he needs knees and has no health insurance, she cleans houses to pay the bills. That is why their yard is a jungle.
After I drove to Ace Hardware and paid 12 dollars for Screws because either we had none or he had lost them. I dragged boards that came off the other old fence the tree people removed, held them cross wise and Bob used the power drill to screw it steady.
It's done and it will never be pretty but 2 hours later we have a safe yard for

The standing sturdy but ugly fence is done and only cost time and $$ for screws.
these are the after pics from the beginning above.
the jungle will take care of the ugly part.
to be continued tomorrow
