Dang! What the Heck is this?
Can you guess what this is? Monster Hand? Green Rake?
what is your guess?
Answer at end
I grew up without ever hearing a curse word, not in our house, or church or neighborhood or in movies or at family reunions. None, Nada!
I did here a lot of
“ Dang it”
“ Dad Blast It”
“ Dagnabbit”
“ Dadgummit”
“ Crap”
“ Crapola”
“ Crud”
“H-E-Double LL”
“H-E-Double hockey sticks”
“What the heck? ”
“Cotton picking”
These were the words used when the desire to cure hit and we had to have replacement words
The answer is, the elephant ear in its final death throes.
It look liked this the last time i photographed it the end of May

The Magic of Rain
My beautiful giant Elephant Ear trying to hang on with the hand watering I have done for it. Tap water keeps the roots alive but it doesn't thrive.
I even tried using the water from the rain barrel, it still created this artwork while dying.
This sad looking leaf was hanging on and then came the magic of rain
Two days of rain, and 2 days later this is how it looks. I left the dead leaves to show you the differenc.
Below is the plumbago and it thrives on any water or little water.
It has been the only surviving flowers until the rain came.
We though we had lost the hibiscus tree, but look what the rain did
I may be late visiting today, 8:15 am annual wellness visit to my doctor.

Under the Elephant Ear
Linda from Linda's Life Journal asked if I knew an edit program she could use, she needs to change. I use PicMonkey for mine but told her I had heard good things about Pixlr.
You know me, I had to TRY it! These were all created using Pixlr. Do any of you use Pixlr? any Advice for Linda?
I practiced with a few of the looking up Elephant Ears and I am impressed with it, and it is a lot less expensive than PicMonkey.

Looking UP!
I stepped under the 10-foot-tall Elephant Ear Parent Plant to grab this shot of a baby EE that is now 4 feet tall. The photo was not very good so I edited in Lunapic.
I could stand upright under these ginormous leaves holding the cell on my palm. There are now six of these new plants growing under/behind the tallestone.

The Jungle is back, in our Backyard
The rains keep coming every few days and Florida is becoming a tropical jungle again. The ferns I transplanted from around the yard are now 4 feet high, the banana tree is about 10 feet, Elephant Ear about 9 ft.

Colocasia Taro Giant Elephant Ears part 2
HEAR YE! HEAR YE!
I just got home from the doctor and the mystery is solved.
I AM SICK! not a tumor or cancer
Sinus Infection, Swollen Tonsils, fluid in both ears, inner ear infection, yeast on tongue causing swollen throat.
Triple antibiotic 3 times a day, Steroids to make it heal faster, Strong Dizzy Pill...
and a Dyflucan pill for after effects, if you don't know what they are, you have never needed one.
I should be able to walk Beau within 24 to 48 hours.
It is 11:09 AND I can pick up RX at 11:40.
Light at the end of the tunnel
These elephant ears are direct line of sight from the whole middle of our house, through the sliding glass doors and windows
I put the phone on selfie mode and stood holing the unseen screen upwards taking Ear Selfies and myself the Mad Photo Bomber showed in 2 of them.

In the Jungle, the quiet Jungle
Philomena thrives, longer by the day, her two daughters looked sicker by the day.
In a fit of I just do not CARE, I jerked them out of the vase and threw them in the trash.

| July 26 elephant ears were at my chin level in height |
Our Elephant ears are now 7 feet tall. I can stand under them. Bob can't take a photo and with nowhere to prop the phone except in the POOL, I took selfies to show you how tall they are.
No idea why my eyes are closed.

In the back yard, all alone, making a fool of myself. Prior Post of the grandmother of this plant, from 2007 HERE she suffered death by dog, Baby Girl Did The Dastardly Deed |

THE RAIN came!
Thursday The Rain Came! 2 inches in 20 minutes, leaving droplets on Elephant ears and making patterns in the pool.
We are sub tropics, our rain comes in Buckets dumped all at one time. Sun comes out and repeat the bucket dump. It is rare to have a day of drizzle. We get Sun and RAIN. Sun and Rain
Friday we got 3 inches and were doing a happy dance! 5 inches Two days!
the back yard shouted hallelujah
| Banana trees, Bird of Paradise, Flowers on hibiscus not shown. YET |
Along came Saturday!
and another 7 inches of rain. Total Rain 3 Days 12 inches!
Since this is Florida, the sun came out and 3 hours later the run way was ready to play and the water was no where to be found.
Pop over to Beaus Blog for the rest of the story.

Elephant Ears, Ferns, Hibiscus Oh My
I can't seem to help myself when it comes to the sun pointing out the leaves and flowers and ferns in our yard. Each time I take a photo of it I come inside and put it on my desktop to keep that moment alive...
I took the week end off from comments/posting just so you know.

The Case of the Disappearing Colocasia...
![]() |
| Photo's today from my Archives Circa 2007 |
The Case of the disappearing Colocasia Elephant Ears
Also known as Death By Dog.
The cast: The digger, the hunter and the runner
Time Travel with me to 2007
Said Elephant Ears were more than 5 feet tall and a treasured view from my kitchen window
The three Canines in resident had been living with these plants for several years. Then one day Baby the digger spent time each day, digging to China under the roots
Jake noticed his sister digging and said what fun. Look at all those lizards on the stalks.
My beloved Elephant Ears drooped and dropped and fell to the ground.
Cooper the runner said "Hey guys, lets run and use the track behind what is left of the plants for a race track,.
And by the end of the summer the Ears were no more... No More.. No More.
Yes, I know this is not an elephant ear, but I found it in the Elephant Ear folder.
Who did that we do not know....
