Not a Frog in the bucket

I said to Bob, what is that noise? He replied What Noise?  I followed my ears and there he was. FPL guy in a bucket cutting down the neighbors Bamboo.

We had watched with joy as the neighbor over a period of 2 weeks slowly removed the bamboo that ruins our pool by raining tiny leaves in it. Also when the wind blows, the bamboo shorts out the power lines. I said to Bob as we watched the neighbor, if he touches those 3 tall ones that are touching the power line, we need to be ready to call 911... 2 days after I said that FPL appeared and took it all down safely... YAY it is all gone now. so is the cute guy in the bucket that wondered what the heck the old lady was doing with her camera.

If you are bored with nothing else to do, click HERE for prior post on when I did call the power down number because the bamboo was flaming on those wires. that was back in 2016.

The Spatulas, the Jar and the Sunshine

I read in the news that the black spatulas and spoons for nonstick cookware, are poisoning us. Despite the fact I have used them on the nonstick pans for half my life, I bought these bamboo utensils, and they work great and now I am waiting for the announcement of bamboo is killing us too
😉😉😉

While taking the bamboo photo, I opened the blinds that close out the heat from the blazing sun from the DIRT YARD WITH NO SHADE THAT MAKES ME HAVE TO KEEP THE BLINDS CLOSED and took this to show you what photography opps I am missing in my kitchen because I paid someone 3500 dollars to ruin my sunny kitchen photography to show all of you.

Please do not judge me because I did not dust the jar first.

I simply did not even SEE it until the photos were in the computer.
Please just focus on the jazzy looking shadows and picture in your mind what the jar would look like if it had no dust and if the blinds did not have to stay closed, I would have seen it and dusted it off
I LOVE MY BLINDS OPEN IN DAY AND CLOSED AT NIGHT.

On the Way to Staples - Reflections

LOOK WHAT I FOUND.... on the way to Staples to buy a new KINDLE... Reflections in a retention pond.

I pulled behind the shopping center to see what was in the retention pond. YIKES. they posted a tow away sign.. I parked anyway and left my door open for a quick getaway and walked to the NEW Wall of Bamboo they planted trying to ruin my view.
I peered through the bamboo below and saw the above

I told Bob I climbed through a spot like the one above to get these shots, he said you do know there could be gators in there. NOW he tells me.

UPDATE.. until we were driving to the gym this morning, we both forgot today is our 28th Anniversary.
SOOOO Happy Anniversary to US

Aug 21 Bob Update Plus BeauSpeak

Hi, this morning Mama and I saw this on our walk around the neighborhood. Mama said, Beau lets tell everyone only The Good Stuff Today...  Since this is My Day to Speak,

Yes, Mama moved my sofa and I refused to get on it for 10 days, and suddenly I decided its the same sofa, the view is of my Daddy in his hospital bed, so why not

Oops! mama forgot daddy, or maybe he prefers not to be seen at this time. Later in the post we can use this photo to tell another good thing. (new sheets in mamas favorite colors, new  pads for floor and bed, new urinal, the one that came home leaked)

I am sitting with a drool rag on the floor and the good news is

Daddy now eats breakfast and lunch at the kitchen table, sitting in his Daddy Mover Chair. Its called that because he can only stand and turn to sit from bed to chair and Mama Moves Him where se wants him. Or where he wants to be. but not outside.

Mama through this in just because she picked up the ipad 2 days ago for the first time in three weeks and played with me on the sofa

Next good thing is, Daddy got a hair cut at the Horror House Rehab Home, and they cut off ALL HIS CURLS. Mama and Daddy were furious, but this is about good stuff and this photo shows the short hair grew this much longer in 10 days. woo hoo
Mama took the photo to show daddy the back of his head.

The last good thing to share, but certainly the best!!
Daddy has a niece and a nephew and his wife, in Pennsylvania.
They sent a HUGE Gift Card through Amazon Email and Mama has been ordering Supplies to help with daddy and his hospital bed that is IN MY living space. several bloggers added to it.
so far our front porch has received
a cushion for the Daddy's mover chair to make his bottom feel better
Diapers and wipes and lotions and ointments and creams and wipes for the potty chair and bags for the potty chair and Mama is thankful a patient in the rehab home told her about the bags for potties.
We got a wheel chair ramp from Amazon, and a really soft topper for his bed to make his bones feel better, I like my bones how they are. Ha ha, Woof Woof
Mama is thankful for gifts and cards and emails and so much love from all of you.
She is thankful for the PT that told her about Wise Men's Balm, Frankincense n Myrrh and bought 2 more jars of it. I have a lot of fun trying to guess what mama is dragging in from the porch.
We are all thankful Dan and Michelle are coming Saturday to complete the
Long List called Dan's To Do List and Mama may have added a Michele to do on that list.

I am most thankful for my new bamboo bowl stand and shiny new bowls,  I have had to eat MY food out of Big Boys' Bowls for all the five years I have been here. Mama says bamboo is easily wiped clean unlike the 7 year old plastic one and it now resides in the trash.
Mama is thankful Daddy put it together this morning while his breakfast grew cold on the table..
Mama closes with Diaper Duty (he he he) is expensive and she doesn't even get paid.
😁😁😁

Mama says all of this is certainly enough to be thankful for and we can join all the kitties at Brian's Home for
Brian's Thankful Thursday!

The Plants Between the Shutters

Japanese Barberry and is a type of bamboo or so the Google Lens tells me.

Now that I have decided to prune and water, these plants already look better.
The one in front of the porch I cut way back and will trim more, which will make it fill in with leaves.

Below the tall one is Chinese Yew Tree that can be trimmed Bonsai.

When we moved in it was 3 round balls. we don't like trimmed balls,
so did not trim it and let it grow like it is.

We prefer natural plants not shaped. Like living in Jungle Environment

Thes shorter plant is Nandina, AKA Sacred Bamboo.

Chinese Yew and Nandina and Ferns

Ginny asked to see the before fern, after fern.
Here you go Ginny.
Some of you asked what type ferns these are. Sword Ferns, also known as Nephrolepis cordifilia
See them on Wiki HERE

Backyard Birding

Bob and Jake were playing ball, and I was standing staring up into the trees and sky and realized there were two birds on the top of the 40 foot piece of bamboo . The strange thing was it was a Blue Jay and  A Red Belly Woodpecker. Thank you TexWisGirl for identifying the wood pecker for me.

The other odd thing was the fact they stayed there while I went inside for my camera and then sat there while I took 25 photos, trying to get the camera to focus that far away... The both had a seed/berry in their beaks.

I  wonder if we will have new families of WoodJay's, Jaywoods, ... a blue jay with a red head, a red head with a blue bottom?

I AM TAKING A FEW DAYS OFF, TO WORK ON A TO DO LIST THAT IS FOREVER BEHIND..

Randomosity...

Did you know Cardinals can cause nervous break downs? This one sings non stop from 4 AM until well past dark... he sang one day for 12 hours with only a 10 minute break. He is sitting 50 feet up on the top of our neighbors bamboo.
CLICK HERE to here his whistle, it sounds like he is calling a dog

on the way to the trash can, I found this begonia that starts to die every time bob moves it out of the plant hospital... it has been there for 3 years. this is the only spot it will grow and I rarely see it.

Kings Mantle taken with Canon Rebel.

Same flower also known as Clock Flower taken with Nikon point and shoot... looks like different colors, but the true color is royal purple not blue.

Random Pic and Thoughts

Random mix by MadSnapper for stirfry... yellow squash, red onions, green peppers with ground turkey, served over brown rice..

I return ink cartridges for recycle at Staples, and receive 2 dollars each. I had 8.00 rewards to spend. I wandered up and down every aisle and found the deal of the day. Wireless keyboard and mouse, regular 69.99 was on sale 50 % off, minus rewards and I paid 27.00 for it...

and I needed one because my other one quit a month ago and I went back to the wired mouse/keyboard. WOO HOO Wireless again

Backyard Looking UP

I stood staring up at my favorite pine in our back yard jungle and decided to
show you what we see when looking up

Tuesday AM just before daylight, I was in the pool doing exercises and I heard a noise of something walking in the jungle growth....

I got out and flapped/popped the towel several times and a really really Big

went running up the pine  tree and out on that bottom left limb.
Raccoon photo from National Wildlife

Living in a jungle in the middle of the city, we still have wild life.

Avocado tree
Click here for former post on Loblolly Pine  or here for our amazing
Avocado Tree that Bob planted from a seed.  if you visit, scroll down past todays post to see the old ones.
Fish tail palm, bamboo and schefflera tree
the above trees cover 100 feet across the back yard
Below is part of the giant pine I was looking up into.
it is not dead, the needles are raining down on us now.

I grabbed this aerial view of our house, you can see we are in an oasis surrounded by trees...Our Back and front yard are all jungle.

What's That?

In the corner of our yard, there is a Very Tall cluster of Palm Trees that resemble bamboo, only much bigger around. Yesterday, the dogs kept running over there and jumping up and down. I heard rustling noises all day, but could see nothiing. late last night I almost captured what lives deep in the heartt of the palms.

the fronds between me and that little critter way back in his hidy hole prevented me from getting a clear shot.

Sunday Surprise

Sunday morning at 10 AM, Bob was walking Jake around the block, I was walking laps around the pool and under the power lines and I heard ZZZZZYT ZZZZZT over my head. I knew what it would be. Hustled to the other side of the yard and there it was. The neighbors 50 foot bamboo had fallen on the power line. this happens often, but usually it just fries the tip. This one was to big and did not burn through but hung down 10 feet to the ground wire causing both places it touched to flame and smoke.

I ran inside while screaming  speaking to Bob to get himself and the dog away from under the lines because it might fall.
the 6 foot piece

I called the "power line down number" for our electric company and they sent a cute young guy to cut the thing off the lines. I totally  forgot to take the cute guy's photo with the extension pole. Because
while he was STANDING on the ground HOLDING the pole and cutting the flaming bush I stood inside ready to call 911 to save him and the idiot husband who was standing next to him..

the 10 foot piece

While the cute guy was cutting the flames got higher and he ran around the house and out to the truck and back and I thought he went for HELP...
He came back and put a claw on the end of the pole saw and grabbed the flaming thing and threw it on the ground..
I was REALLY weak from Adrenalin Rush, but I did manage a few photos...
Later inside, I said to Bob as soon as my adrenalin calms down I will finish putting our pills in the weekly dividers.
He said WHAT Adrenalin rush? from WHAT? This from the man who said
don't call anyone, it will burn itself down.
And I said and burn through the wires dropping them in the POOL or ON your head..
Can you say Mars and Venus????
