Our Renovated Library

Our library was closed for renovations and adding a new chiller AC for 3 months. This is the front entrance. The library is now bright and cheerful and they married the Old with the New Technology, with more than 50 computers available to the public and much to much to list.
Paper books sit alongside movies and audio books as the prime attraction. People without internet access at home can find it in the library.

One of the best things that happened at the Fashion Show, was the fact I could walk normally up and down the three flights of steps.
It has been many years, due to osteoarthritis in hips/knees/back, since I could step up/down without the step/drag stutter step.
For five months I have faithfully followed the pool/home exercises the therapist gave me. The pains are gone unless I sit/lay/walk for long periods of time.

Above is the new coffee/study bar set up for teens to study

The light fixture that hangs above the landing on the stairs just fascinates me.

Beautiful library! That light fixture is amazing. I think back to the little cubby that was my hometown's library...things are changing! So thankful the therapy/exercise are giving you relief.

Wow, Sis! I thought this was a museum! I had to read before I knew it is a library. It is too cool!! I love everything about it. And the best is The Mad One walking up the steps. A perfect visual to go with your wonderful news.

I'm glad that the swim exercises have helped. I still have trouble with stairs, and I don't know what else to do but walk. That is a beautiful remodel! Much better than seeing a library shut it's doors forever due to lack of funding.

P.S. The fabulous lights look like many moons!

This is the most beautiful library I have ever seen. Maybe the bright colors help one stay awake if they are reading a boring text book!

The library looks good; and good news about being able to walk the stairs... Well done! I've been struggling for a while again with my knee so I know the step/drag stutter step all too well - good thing there is a lift in my building!

what a nice looking library. I bet everyone was happy to see it open again after being closed for 3 months.
Awesome that your exercises have helped you.

More libraries should look like this. It's beautiful. Who wouldn't want to come there and wander through the shelves. I do miss the old card catalogs! It's nice they are computerized but I used to love flipping through and finding all kinds of things that I never dreamed of reading about before. That's pretty hard to do on the computer when you don't know what what may exist out there. It's kind of like looking through a dictionary. I always liked the check out the word above and the word below the word I was looking up. You can't do that on the Internet.

Oh Sandra, I'm so happy your therapy has worked and your pain is better.
Our internet has been out so I couldn't do anything for quite a while.
Yes my Granddaughter is the one with the gorgeous red hair playing the French Horn.
I didn't identify her because her parents aren't too fond of me publishing her.
We did have a wonderful time but I sure walked my gimpy knee off...

That's great news about being able to walk up those stairs. I have difficulty these days and think I may have arthritis. I know I need to get it checked out. Love your look of your new library. Looks like it's going to be a very popular one.

That looks a great Library and place to hang out. Good news to hear that you could manage the stairs and that your exercises paid off. I have arthritis in my back and it flares up every now and then more now that then. I must get back ingot the exercises. I'm not looking forward to 13 hours sitting on a plane next week when I go to visit my family in LA.
Libraries have embraced the digital world and are fun places to visit. We hold our camera club classes in a big meeting room in our local library.
