Mega Magnifier in one hand, Little Red Camera in the other, a box of matches... and into the back yard I went.
Placing the two matches in a metal pot, I let the sun beam fall through the magnifier and NOTHING HAPPENED.
Bob was in the pool, I
Bob gets out of the pool, grabs the magnifier and says hold out your arm.
I DID, stupid me....
"OW! OW!" MADSnapper screamed "that HURT" his answer was"you have to make the sun beam tiny, the smaller it is the hotter"
See that smoke up above?
It did set both matches on fire, but silly me had the thing in the bright sun, the camera could not see the flame...
SOOOOOOOOOOO,,,,, what do you think the MADsnapper did next?
Yep! I built a little pile of matches, moved into the semi shade and VOILA the sunbeam BURST into a tiny, miniature campfire
Have you ever started a fire with a magnifying glass and sunshine?
Can you guess today what I did NEXT?
Blame this post on Ginny of Let Your Light Shine.. (pun Intended). Last week she posted Burning up the yard and her Granddaughter was starting a fire with a magnifying glass. NUFF SAID....
BUT WAIT...THERE MIGHT BE MORE

I like your "tiny campfires!" I saw Ginny's post, too! I have never tried this.
Hello. Invite you to watch my new photographs on the blog. Have a nice weekend.
Bravo MS but I'm a tad disappointed I was hoping for some roasted marshmallows!! MOL MOL MOL
Hugs Madi and Mom
Sandra, I have done this as a young teen.. And forgot about it until now.. LOL, have you heard it is not good to play with fire? Have a great weekend!
this is so you! lol I'm pretty sure son did this in boy scouts. :)
...I bet you experimented a bit on making some tiny, mini....s'mores?
oh, dear. my sis is sort of a pyro when she gets started. you are for the sake of photos. :)
Smiling again. No, I've never started a fire using a magnifying glass but the first sign of camping at Girl Scouts I quit. Not a proud moment as I look back ;)
I haven't ever started a fire with a magnifying glass either...but I am thinking about doing it now ;-)!
I love your adventurous spirit!!!
I can't wait for more!! The smoke...at first I thought it was a shadow or something. Then when you said, I looked again. HOLY SMOKES! That's a lot of smoke, and more than we made. Now I want to know how Bob knew this. Did he do it as a boy? Phil and his brothers killed ants. Can't wait till your next post!!
Oh, yes, I have started a fire with magnifying glass, but I have not take pics of it. (I love to play with fire.)
Fire bug!! It's fun, isn't it?
Oh Sandra what next. Hmmmm
looks like Bob was a wee fired up you were disturbing his relaxing time in water. Big guy had to get out. Ha-ha.
Your a kid at heart Sandra.
Men just get so flustered with us gals. I think he thinks you were a girl guided and you should know how to make fire. Like Magic Magnifier.
If Jenny can. Why can't you.
I always wonder what your up to next.
Your such an adventures person.
Yes marshmallows would be a great tasty snack on a cooler day.
Look out for the fire department Sandra.
I mean Anna Marie I looked at Jennys blog.
On survivor they rub two sticks together no sun. I am fascinated how well they make a fire without matches or magnifying glass.
Try that but make sure you have a bucket of water next to you Sandra or a water hose.
Encase you have the fire ablaze.
That's pretty cool. So that's how pyromania starts....LOL!
I see you're making up for not being allowed to play with matches when you were a kid.....lol
I've never tried this but now I might have to buy a box of matches and try it.
lol Do not let my boy see this post! He will be trying to do that! lol When he was 4 we found him outside near my bedroom window behind the house with a box of matches trying to put some foam thing on fire. Thankfully we seen the smoke and I went out to see what was going on before he got hurt!
It is good to know though that you can light a fire with a magnifying glass. It might come in handy sometime. You just never know!
You're pretty funny, and yes my brother and I started some paper on fire doing that when we were kids. Fortunately, we had enough sense to have the paper in a pan or ashtray or something. I don't remember that part.
I think I commented once before that I think you're part pyromaniac! Suspicion confirmed.
I'm not sure you should be allowed to have a magnifying glass. Or matches... ;-)
(I don't think I ever did try it.)
as a kid i tried starting fire with magnifying glasses, but i never got more than just smoke... i probably wasn't holding it steady enough at the time though..
Little red camera?
Love how smoke was captured.
