The towel draped over the back of the sofa, says Kitchen Closed, Lets Eat Out... In the distant past it hung on the wall in the kitchen. Due to distant past, it is so faded it is hard to read. Can you guess why it is draped on the back of the living room sofa?

It is to remind me a load of towels is washing in the washer!
NOT that I have ever forgotten and left them in washer WET until they soured in the heat and humidty.
The reminder I use the most, is the laundry basket on the bed, that is on the path to the potty. NO chance of missing that one...
What Reminders do you use?

I never thought of doing things like this to remember the wash. I will do something like this, we have a fit remembering it. We have left clothes in the washer for so long that we had to throw them away. Now we usually set a timer, but we are going deaf. I will leave the hamper right where we can see it, brilliant!! Happy Dance!!
I need to set a timer when I turn the water on......outside at home in Irving and the faucet to fill the camper's tank reservoir here in the country. I can't tell you how many times I have forgotten.....hours and hours and sometimes days!
I need reminders like that too. I use my iPhone these days to add daily ones. Seems to work until I misplace my iPhone 🤔. I guess I still write on note-lets occasionally and place them where I sit first thing in the morning, usually on the placemat where I drink my cup of coffee.

The laundry is not one I have trouble with, as it sits right in the kitchen (most in the UK do) so cannot be missed. My trouble is with things on the stove and then coming to do some work or reading in the lounge... and getting lost in those things and having had to throw pans. So now I have a timer with a very loud buzz!!! YAM xx
Hello,
I have set the alarm on my phone for a reminder, sometimes I write notes.
I have moved my laundry basket out in the hall, mainly for my hubby to carry it down the basement. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week ahead.
LOL LOL LOL
thankfully my washer and dryer both have a very loud buzzer that you might be able to hear in FL. It only goes off 3 times total of about 10 seconds.
Hugs Cecilia
Looks like a good way to set a reminder.
That -- and the laundry basket atop your bed -- are great ideas! (Unfortunately, I know all about soured towels.)
Offhand, the only 'tool' I use to remind me is Alexa. Day before yesterday I was here (guest bedroom) on the computer and heard Tom yelling at her/it, "Alexa … stop!" He had no idea why she was going off, but I would have totally forgotten to turn down the slow cooker.
HAHA..and I thought it was a hint to Bob! See, that is how my mind would have worked it.
You know I have reminders for lots of things - but I can't think now. So I know I use timers with the laundry. Good idea. Sandie
As you know, I don't have my own washing machine but use the common laundry room in the apartment block were I live. I put my bags of laundry in the hall before I take them down, and I set the alarm on my phone so as not to forget to collect things from the driers on time. I also try not to get too involved in other "projects" upstairs in between my turns to the laundry room... As for other reminders, I have a wall calendar in the kitchen for appointments etc + I put notes on my fridge. When cooking I always set a timer. I also put post-it-notes on my laptop if there are things I should do online. (Not the digital kind of notes, but paper ones!) Like "pay bills" etc.
Great reminders for you.
I always have a running list beside my laptop for reminders...pay certain bills, Birthdays and calls I need to make. The calendar is right there too...I'm a tactile, look at paper kind of person.
When we lived in our other house, all of our living area was on the second floor.
The washer and dryer were in the garage below.
Everything that needed to go down stairs or out to the car, sat at the head of the stairs as a reminder...
I can't tell you the times I stepped over some notes or things and went down the stairs...totally ignoring the reminder...Crazy.
Our machine has a very loud buzzer that goes off but sometimes if your really busy or Mark has the TV loud we don't hear it. That's a good reminder you use.
I might hang a kitchen towel over the something and see if husband reacts or how.
I am list maker.
Coffee is on
I either set a timer, plus sometimes leave the lights on in the basement. I usually don't forget the washer, it is something in the dryer that I want to hang up right away that I am apt to forget. What is funny, I used to never, ever leave anything in the dryer. Now I will leave underwear laying in it for two or three days, or towels, or jeans...but not often on jeans.
LOL...I like that reminder...but the eat out slogan makes more sense to me.
I've been using the timer on my cell phone a lot lately to remind me to check on things
This is a great post to remind me to start making some reminders, LOL. You have no idea the things I forget.
Unlike you, I HAVE forgotten wet stuff in the washer as well as as a dry load in the dryer. Obviously I need to adopt your strategies. Although I would likely berate myself and wonder why I left the memory aid item there. Going to try it. Will report!
