Girly Fireworks 2013

I was thinking about making a New Year's resolution, but what the heck -- why tamper with perfection

May you wake up on January 1st, finding that the world has not come to an end, the lights work, the water faucets flow, and the sky has not fallen.

Credit for the idea of Girly Fireworks, created from my Powder Puff Photos, goes to Ginny at
Let Your Light Shine and if you are sick of seeing powder puffs in any form SEE GINNY

and BTW (by the way)

After serious and cautious consideration...
your contract of friendship has been
renewed for the New Year 2013!

Candlelight by monopod

I saw this glowing and had an attack of mono-poditis.
This new disease attacks me at any given moment since I bought the mono-pod.

I call it The Stick and I love it!

Does a pink candle burn longer than a blue candle?   NO, they both burn SHORTER...

What did one candle say to the other?    Don't birthdays just burn you up?

Happy New Year and stay safe tonight.....

Don't Ask... Please

I found a coloring book Father Time and painted and framed, I put an old photo in a fancy frame.

The title says Don't Ask...Please..... but just in case you did ASK ... WHY/What was she doing? Playing in Photoshop like a little girl......and because I sat for hours watching videos on how to do things, and then doing them, my back was in bad shape and i had to take a day off.

Calliandra Fascination

The process of becoming a big red powder puff, starts as a berry, then tiny little spindly things come out a few at a time

Each day a few more appear. I love the above because it shows tiny berries, larger berries, one starting to bloom and one dying, all on the same tip of the limb....

then it becomes a half a ball.

Next is is half berry half ball

And then it becomes the big fluffy ball. see the white? that is tiny flowers full of pollen. Each puff wiill have 2 or 3 bees so far down in there they are hard to see.... they love to dive on that white pollen.

In a couple of days the puff starts to shrivel, like above

and then it hangs down while yet another one starts above and the process begins again

The last step is this one above and the next day it turns  brown and falls to the ground.

Twas The Day AFTER Christmas...

Powder Puff Bush 16 feet tall Dec 26, 2012
Click on photo to see just how amazing our outside Christmas tree is.

It loves our cold weather (50 to 65) and loves Dec/Jan it can survive 40 degrees but only for a couple of days.

Powder puff bush  one of many names for it. it is a Calliandra and there are 200 different species very similar.  Drought resistant, but loves water and likes temps between 50 and 65. Doesn't bloom in the summer heat, but our dwarf powder puff blooms year round.

and when the sun comes out, Standing staring up through the leaves, enjoying the sunshine, I realized I had found something MARVELOUS....

there was one of Lizzies children, clinging to a bud.... isn't she adorable? She is only 1 and 1/2 inches long...

The problem is, SHE is cute, the gazillion bees who live in these blooms are not. they are very aggressive during the cooler weather, and chase anyone that comes close. NOTHING can stop the MadSnapper

Old Saint Nicolas...

My favorite Santa is my Paper and card board Saint Nicolas, that is about 18 years old. Each year I take pics of his face, but this year I used the mono pod and finally got his beautiful face in a clear shot.

..
What do you call Saint Nick after he comes down the chimney?
Cinder Clause

He lives on the breakfast bar for the season, but I sat him in front of the mirror to drape the lights to reflect on him.

Santa and the flashlight.

this Santa on Tip Toe is 48 years old, I bought him for my son's first Christmas... you can't see the damage in the photos, but he is peeling and getting grungy.

I sat him in God's Flashlight and then used my flashlight. Just for Fun and Just because I could.

Art is where you find it

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do.

"Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?"
The blonde said, "How about 50 dollars?" The man agreed and told her that the paint and ladders that she might need were in the garage. The man's wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her husband, "Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the house?"
The man replied, "She should. She was standing on the porch."

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.
"You're finished already?" he asked. "Yes," the blonde answered, "and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats. "Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the $50.

"And by the way," the blonde added, "that's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari."
