Our printed list of channels for HD channels on TV disappeared; I think it might have been “consumed” by a canine.
While on-line printing a new list, I spied this in red: NEW Caller ID on your computer (we have it on phone and TV screen). Download here.
Downloaded and ready to Ring.....I chose flight of the bumblebee.
.... drum roll please...see me doing my "happy dance"
Laptop AND desk top.... has a handy gadget.....Ring Ring
Voila.. up comes handy gadget (loudly playing flight of bumble bee,
And at a glance I KNOW who is
(Yesterday caller ID said Washington DC, do you think it was HIM?) I did not get up for that call.
PS… the handy gadget allows me to forward my home phone anywhere I want to…. AND if I forget to record a TV program, I can log in from anywhere in the world and program the show.
(OMG what a relief that is.)
But Wait, there is more!
Late afternoon, same day, I noticed the caller ID light was blinking in the kitchen and said “we missed a call”. I look at number, it says FL cell phone and a number. I say to Hubby “whoever it was, they did not leave a message, can’t be to important” Hubby says “read the number, I do and he says don’t recognize it. This goes on for a few minutes. I say “what were you doing at 11:38?” He says “in garage repairing plane” I say “where was I? Oh yes, downloading the caller ID on the computer.”
OMG! It’s MY CELL PHONE. I used it to test the computer gadget!!! DUH!!!
Hubby “you don’t know your own number?”
Well, I guess NOT!

Hey...how often do we call ourselves?
I changed my ring to a regular telephone ring. So it rang last night waking me up and I couldn't figure out what the heck it was. They haven't invented a telephone ring yet to satisfy me.
This all sounds very advanced to me... None of my various machines talk to each other. I'm not sure I even got round to getting both computers to interact properly through the home network. Anyway they both have to be on for that. So sometimes I email myself instead... ;)
I've been trying to ignore some sales calls on my phone for weeks now (recognizing the numbers). They are very persistent though. I guess some day soon I'll have to pick up and tell them I don't want to talk to them...!
That is funny.... Isn't it amazing with all the stuff we have nowadays.... Can't even imagine how much more advanced things will get....scary!
LOL!!
I always have to stop and think when I'm asked for our phone number. It's getting to be as bad for other numbers since we have most of our family and friends on speed dial. Isn't modern technology wonderful?
You are too funny! I never can remember my cell phone number, LOL!
Have a great weekend

This is too funny!!!! Aren't gadget things like this fun? Now I am hearing Flight Of The Bunblebee. Unfortunately, I will probably be hearing it all day!!!
That's great information!
I don't know my cell phone number either because it's for my use only. In fact, the young man who sold me the phone, wrote down the number and taped to the back of the phone before I left the store! I guess he's used to dealing with technologically challenged gray haired ladies!
I never turn my cell phone on unless I'm meeting someone who might have to call or unless I have to make a call.
Best,
Bonnie
Sounds interesting - not sure I will be able to do it! sandie
Great little gadget, Sandra... Our caller ID comes up on our TV's --but they don't come up on our computers. We get so much 'crap' phone calls --and don't answer many of them...
I've read about this gadget --and about being able to record things when you are away from home. That would be neat...
None of us knows our phone numbers much anymore... I have to think about both of mine when someone asks it... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Next time you call yourself, leave a message. That way you will know it was an important call.
I'm as guilty as everyone else about not remembering my cell number. I rarely use it. Sounds like a terrific gadget but maybe too techie for me.
Great story Sandy.
Only you, Sandra, only you.
When someone asks for our home or my cell number I have to stop and think about it. All of our devices already communicate with each other way too much to add anything else.
Flight of the Bumblebee would be a cool ringer. Hubby hates it when my cell rings, for most calls the ringer is AC/DC's Thunderstruck! I have different rings for email and text, all hard rock.
What a neat discovery . . . and a great caller ID story that made me laugh! Have a great weekend!
You bring many smiles to my face ...
Hi Sandra..funny, we got rid of our land line some time ago. It was good when our boys lived in Arizona as I could call them and they could use a cell so we would have decent reception. Anyway, hubby kept his business line but we each use a cell. We don't watch t.v..just everything off the computer. I do mostly texting on my cell but can understand your excitement and desire because we all have our own set up. Who knows..maybe it would be worth it? I love all the gadgets. My son bought me a cover for the laptop and I took it out for the first time today..but didn't use it (lol)..We live out in the sticks and didn't have any electricity for quite some time (until we built the house we're in now)..so we had dial up at first and that was a kick!
I loved your story! lol That's so awesome that you can do all that with your computer, I've only heard and unfortunately there's no time to check into new toys just yet.
cool gadget. Whenever someone asks me my cell phone number I have to open my phone up and go to the place where it tells you what the number is...lol
LOL! it's ok, I rarely remember my own phone number, either. After all, I never call MYSELF!
Your new gadget is AWESOME and I love fun stuff like this! I don't have my caller ID through my TV... it's not available with my cable setup. I don't mind though because my phone rarely rings anyway. lol
