this weed can cover a house, a tree, a fence an entire acre, if left to grow. It pops up any and every where and is the dreaded weed I do NOT love.
UPDATE: I woke up to 9 comments and Squirrel Queen named this vine for me. Virginia Creeper
BUT, look at all it's pretty faces..... all found in our yard and trees, Bob constantly whacks and hacks this stuff.
MadSnapper Trivia
about 10 years ago , my dad mailed me a check for 125.00, for no reason,
he just said "I was sitting watching TV and I says to myself, Charles send Sandra a hundred dollars."
I had to call him and tell him our dog Max ate the check. Oh Yes, he did.
Daddy at age 89 could not understand how to send another check. I said Daddy, add it back in and don't send us another check. we don't need it. He said no I want to send you the hundred dollars. I said Daddy, you sent 125.00, what is written in your check book, he says 100.00.
I said add the 125.00 back and then write a check for 100 and minus it. we went round and round and he sent the replacement check , 125.00! and he had to go visit Uncle Jack to help him straighten it out.

I am challenged at math, too! Have you ever thought to look this weed up? I would be interested what it is. Will it have a pretty bloom at any time?
the dog ate the check? Well, that's a new one for me :) Glad you got it sorted and, yeah, like Ginny says, what is that weed?
Looks like a nice weed though, but can imagine it's a pain if it grows everywhere. So, the dog ate the check?! Wow, have never heard of that before...glad it got sorted though. Have a great day!

It resembles our woodbine a little bit.
Up here in New York that weed is called wood vine. It will climb a tree, take it over and kill the tree if you don't keep hacking it out of there. I hate the stuff.
Love the story about your Dad.
I do not know that weed..no...
I do not believe the dog ate the check....
You have mail...
Oh no, getting rid of Virginia Creeper is a pain and near impossible. Good luck.
That is funny about the check. So Max had a taste for checks?
I remember having this weed all over our last property.
That is cute about your dad and the checks!
Back in my youth, my grandmother had a dog named Max. He once ate a pearl that fell off my ring. Don't name another dog Max, who knows what will get eaten! ;)
Did You read "Brendas Arizona"
post "pulling weeds"
Just writing a check became difficult for my mother in her last 2 years, too, but how sweet he was determined to give in a way he could to his "baby girl."
The invasive Virginia creeper grows here on the east coast too but luckily not in our yard. It is pretty when it changes color.
Virginia creeper is invasive here too. I cannot believe nurseries sell it!
Gosh ~ how come this is a weed? It's so pretty!
That's a cute story about your dad. Sometimes they just want to look after their 'little girls'. No matter the ages. ;)
xo Catherine
well, now thanks to you and squirrel queen, i know what that is called. :)
I'll have to remember this about the Virginia Creeper. That was really sweet of your dad! Still thinking of others. :)
Have a great day!
Pretty little weed... I know God has a reason for everything he has made, and I know it must be for our own good, I just can't figure out what weeds and gnats do for us.?? These are things I will ask when I get to the pearly gates... :-)
Bless your Daddy's heart. My Mama had a lot of confusion about bills, etc. Elaine and I eventually just took it over. You could not do that for him because you were living in Florida.
Love you, Madeline
Your Virginia Creeper sounds like our DREADED Binder Vine or Binder Weed.
Although, me-thinks we also have Virgina Creeper up here, too.
That stuff which we have to keep hacking!!!!!
"If I'm honest I have to tell you I still read fairy-tales
and I like them best of all."
~~Audrey Hepburn
this is a pretty little weed.
there are so many different types of weed.
now i know what that is called.
such beautiful shots, too.
love the lighting in the first one.
You have captured the weed artistically and it came out beautifully! God bless!
Those types of weed like the Virginia Creeper just take over everything.
Happy Whacking....
At our former house we had honeysuckle that did the same thing. It choked out everything else. We were forever pulling it out and then finding it someplace else. It smelled good but what a pain.
Virginia Creeper is a very pretty weed and so shiny. There was also a train route named the Virginia Creeper. Evidently it runs through a very pretty section of VA foothills.
Hugs madi and Mom
I recognized the Virginia creeper, but out here it is more manageable.Perhaps that is because it dies back every winter.
It can't be Virginia Creeper because Virginia does not have weeds!! = )
Best,
Bonnie
Well that Virginia creeper should just creep on back to Virginia and stay the heck out of Florida :)
Max sure did have expensive taste. Hope he enjoyed his pricey meal :)
That is the sad thing and first real sign of aging problems. Balancing the checkbook - and why are Virginia wines in Florida?
Love, sandie
We're very familiar with Virginia Creeper around here. We also keep hacking away at it.
I had some math students who thought like your Dad, although they didn't like to ask for help.
Your Daddy at that age reminded me of George's Daddy NOW. George sits down with him every time we go to see him --and goes over his money and checkbook with him. Dad has always had to know where every penny goes... He 'trusts' George --but only to the extent that he trusts anyone!!!!! ha ha .. BUT--these days he cannot even write his own checks. SO--he has to trust his son! It's hard for him though.
That ole Virginia Creeper is all over the place around here also. It's in all of the empty lots and likes to make its way to our trees when it can... YUK...
Hugs,
Betsy
Oh, gosh, we have this to look forward to...that virginia creeper really is a weed...but it get so gorgeous in the fall....have you seen it in fall colors?
Weeds are often nice to look at when there just one but then the trouble comes as they expand!
The bank ing story is touching. I wonder how the electronic generation will help their aging parents to balance things? All will be in some cloud place that requires a password that is easily forgotten.
