On July 6 they looked like orchids, enlarge for details
July 10th they turned from Orchids to below
And on July 10th this is a new pod starting. If you enlarge the above you can see the ants inside the flowers, the pods are dripping sweet juice off onto the leaves below and the ants are having a party.
this has been in my drafts for 3 weeks, and alas!!! the pod dropped all the flowers and the 5 new bananas are dying. that is OK.... there is always NEXT year.

Great shots! It's good to know that you can look forward to the same process next year.
I look forward to all of the growing processes of you bananas next year. It has been wonderful so far. I never knew that bananas had gorgeous flowers on them. Your blog teaches me so much. It is so wonderful to have you back here, I really missed you when y ou were having surgery and while recuperating. Don't over do it, my dear.
The flowers do look like tiny orchids. Sorry some of the bananas didn't make it but you got some great photos to remember them.

It is fascinating to watch this progression. Too bad,no bananas this year.
Well, you did get these amazing photos first, though....
Wondering how many of your Dear Readers are like me, and had no idea how the bananas in their super market, got that way!?!?
"Young Joy ne'er thought of counting hours,
'till Care, one summer's morning
Set up, among his smiling flowers
A dial by way of warning."
Sorry your didn't get any bananas this year! That is so cool that you actually have them! They don't grow them in WI....I guess I will just have to keep moving south....
sorry they didn't make it, but they're still cool to see.
Ahhhh---sorry you got no bananas this year... BUT--I enjoyed seeing the process. The little flowers look like little orchids...

I didn't realize that the blossoms on a banana tree are so beautiful. I'm sorry all the bananas are dying. I'm glad you're feeling better and are back in blogland.
Bad luck with bananas this year, but thanks for showing us the evolution.
As the flowers are opening, the stamens and pistil look like a little alien emerging! What gorgeous photos. Yeah, I hope you get a good crop of bananas too. What fun!
Gorgeous and fascinating photos Sandra. So tell me why did they die - off season - too hot - too cold? And is sure does start with a beautiful color! sandie
Sorry the bananas didn't make it this time. But, these are gorgeous pics! Has anyone told you lately "it's so good to have you back!" :)

Wonderful pictures! Sorry to hear about the complications after your surgery. Glad you are doing better now. Have a great day :)
Dad tried for years to have bananas. He never failed to dig them for winter and replant in the spring.
One year we had tiny bananas and it was so exciting.
