In 1990 our neighbors sat this chair in their driveway with a sign on it. $100.00.
My heart screamed "I WANT THAT CHAIR".
My MIND screamed "You Can't afford that chair". I drove past it and several hours later when I returned home, it was STILL There..... calling my name.
"BOBBBB, there is a rocker in the neighbors driveway and I want it but it is ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS"
He said "Go Get it and I did"
You would think that 20 odd years later it would be worth more. But the truth is, Max chewed the end off the rocker on both sides, but at least it was the rear of the rockers.
It makes me happy when I look at it and if I let the dust build up on the rockers the chewed spots don't show much.

Love it! I would have had a hard time resisting a chair like that too.
A lovely rocker. The organic design is beautiful and I can see why you love it.
I would be wondering about the history of it?
Great header! (I've been trying to photograph butterflies, birds and squirrels)!!
You probably couldn't have retired on the profits anyway....yikes! Deccy x
I understand why you wanted it. It's a beauty!
Great old chair! I can see why you wanted it so bad. I am glad you were able to get it!
Its a beauty but at $100 I wouldn't have been happy with Max chewing it. Mad Max.
That is a great looking rocker. I had a coffee table that one dog chewed the corner and I think the pedestal in the middle of my dining room table also has a few chew marks on it.
I forgot to mention yesterday how cute your new header is
That is the perfect chair and I too would have wanted it. Love the carvings.
GREAT photos!!!
The teeth marks on the rocker are like work-worn hands of an elder, signs that the rocker or the person has been a real, contributing part of the joy of a family, not just a showpiece. Glad you are still able to enjoy. And I really appreciated the dust strategy.
That is a great old chair. I would bought it too. And I have some chewed furniture too.
I'd have gotten it in a minute. I love it.
It's a very pretty chair. Too bad Max chewed on it, but that does add character to it. :))
Perfect place to just rock your cares away!
Best,
Bonnie
Mad Snapper we love you header and OMCs that chair is absolutely stunning especially in the light.
Can you imagine the craftmans ship involved in the top. Well worth 100.00. I have an old straight back chair with a wicker seat that belonged to my mother in law's family.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Header!!! Oh "cuteness" alarm going off!!! Oh soooo cute! -gigggles-
Your rocker is lovely!!!! I'm sure it is as happy to live with you... As you are, to have it, living with you. :-)
"Auntie"
I can see why you bought it. It's so unique! Love the carvings, really pretty!
I LOVE your header!!!
i love the splurges that give you pleasure still after so many years. :)
Oh that Robbbb is a dear-heart isn't he? Love the chair!!
This is a great chair. One can only imagine the wonderful stories that have been told in and around that chair, even Max's :)
Smart Hubby!
That rocker has so much character, I can't blame you for wanting it.
We had a rocker which I loved and it served rocking both boys for many years.
Somehow it just didn't fit our home style any longer and we sold it. Sure wish we had it now.
It's a beautiful chair. Do you use it much (I mean to sit in, not for dogs to chew on)? I'm afraid I'm so sensitive to motion sickness that a rocking chair is out of the question for me!!!
Sandra I like that next to the light - do you spend time in it rocking? Do you need a pillow or is it comfortable? It sure is beautiful.

Oh, that looks like a good comfy rocker. So many are just not comfortable these days.
It is a beautiful piece of furniture.Looks perfect for a place to rock a few hours away.
I love rocking chairs...great photos...
Excellent photo quality. Congratulations by the images of pictures that presents to us! Divine human nature! Hug
It is a beautiful rocker...no wonder it was calling your name! It would have been calling mine, too!
That's one fine looking rocking chair and well worth the $100. And isn't it great to have an understanding husband?
I do not blame you, such a beauty!
Maybe a big hard on the seat, but the detail make up for that and a pillow would do the trick.
Your husband is so sweet, and remember life is short.
I'd have bought it too!
Love your solution to covering up the chew marks! And that is one nice rocker!
What a wonderful old rocker. It reminds me of my grandmother's rocker.
That is a beautiful chair ~ how could you resist! Nope, I would have bought it too.
xo Catherine
Beautiful rocker...I would love to have one like it.:)
I don't know how I missed this post. What a pretty chair. Mama sat in one very much like this one. She would listen to the old tV show, The Walton's while sitting in that rocker.
It is a beautiful rocking chair! MC
There's something comforting about that rocker and I don't think it's value can be measured.
