MadSnapper, GhD

New TV New Printer

I found out last week I need a GhD in GEEKology to install a plug and play TV or Printer!

If I had gone to college instead of getting married right out of high school would it be easier for me to connect a new All In One printer to my PC and Laptop? or to get the new LED HD Wide screen TV on all the channels...

Found in hospital lobby, reminds me of the OLDEN days

But then I thought, college in 1962 would not have had courses in GEEK because there was no GEEK. We bought a TV plugged it in, twisted the rabbit ears this way and that and Voila... TV stations. All THREE of them... and for rich folks they just adjusted the TV antenna on the roof.

anyhoo, I followed 27 (kid you not) steps to install the printer, step 28 says

Hold down WTS button 5 seconds, say OK and put the CD in the computer to connect to wireless.

WHAT WTS? where is it... insert muttering and loud talking here, I walked away threatening to return the printer to whence it came....

after much brain hurting I thought maybe they mean the wireless router that lives in the Master Bedroom... no button marked WTS, but it did have 3 buttons, I chose the middle one, just because and BAZINGA! I am printing wireless... or at least the PC is... OY VEY and Now for the laptop

Last time the "Geek" squad came here I could not understand them and they talked so fast.....ater they left I had to take three Tylenol and lay down!!!!!!

Good luck, dear...I would probably give up!

Oh boy, can I relate. Directions and I are not on good terms.
Everything is like learning a totally new language.
If I knew the vocabulary things sure would be easier.
Love your new banner and lucky you , getting a new TV and printer.
Hope your weekend goes well and everything gets connected.

I know....why does it have to be so hard??

New high tech gadgets are great but they can push you over the edge setting them up. When we got our flat screen hd tv we ended up having to call customer service and have them walk us through the installation. I have a wireless printer too and it does come in handy some times.

Oh, dear! I too hate installing anything! The next time I have a new device can I call you for tech support?

Ah yes the joys of modern technology.

Why are these things so hard for those of us with a few more years of experience, when the younger generation, like my son, just plug it in and it works,or so it seems.I would be totally lost without the help of my son.

Haha how funny! No you don't need to go to college, I think sometimes they make it so complicated a rocket scientist couldn't figure it out!
Glad you got it all working! Yay! I like your olden days pic of the sign, I love things that seem OLDEN too. :)

NEW stuff, today... It scares us, as much as delights us. Scares us, because we know we have to face the *dreaded* Set-Up. Eeeeeeek.

But you did well, Hon!

And another beeeeautiful header here!

Looks like a nice printer, it's always a meck to get things working but once it does it's excellent. I really need to get me an A3 scanner/printer soon...that's on my list for sure. Hope you're having a great day!

Hugs,
Eva

Hubby had a hard time getting our wireless printer working! As far as other technology we usually hand it over to the teen son, he doesn't need the directions. LOL
Your tree is really pretty!

Only one thing comes to mind...when were you in the hospital? Was it when you had your gallbladder out? Your printer looks really nice, mine is a Cannon too. You always figure everything out, it may just take a bit.

Ha HA HAAAAAA...... I know this is not the answer you want to hear, but if you had a MAC--you wouldn't have to go through all of this... Mac's are SO user-friendly!!!! Oh WEll---I knew it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear.

Betsy

Still trying to figure what WTS stands for...I got words but they are not printable and not my language...just sometimes they cross my mind and they fit.

First off we are late but THE TREE is up. The peeps started on it right after lunch. Of course there are pictures...too bad there was no audio
as there was lots of W&C too.

Good job, Sandra!

That looks like a nice one- and I love your dresser/mirror in the background. It reminds me of my grandmother's old dressing table.

I'm not sure I would have made it to step 28.

I love that dresser!

Here you wanted to shown your printer and tv and your electrical prowess and what do I see? That beautiful dresser.

Congratulations on your new printer. I have a Canon too but not wireless. And you're right, old degrees are not much help when it comes to keeping up with new technology - that's an ongoing struggle and we should get a new diploma with every new device that we managed to master :)

My theory is they always put in an extra, unnecessary, step to confuse everyone. I have a Canon too, got it last year. It hooked up pretty easy the first time. Then we got a new wireless router and it was a pain to reset.

Got a Roku on Friday and hooked it up yesterday so we can stream Netflix and Amazon movies to the TV.

Does all this make us Gadget Junkies?

The problem with all this technology stuff is I'm wary about touching any buttons or clicking anything I'm not sure about. I get pop-ups saying 'update' your programme and I disregard them as I know from experience if I do the programme won't work afterwards and on one occasion the computer wouldn't work the next time I switched on. At least I do have an all-in-one printer that works by wireless installed by our son so I'm a happy lady at the moment... until the next technical challenge.

You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din. I just hate that stuff. It even annoys me that it takes three remote controls just to watch a stupid TV (depending upon whether we're going to watch the TV news or a DVD). I guess the other one is just to make it more complicated. And the worst thing is...losing those remotes!

Good luck with all the GEEKness.
