Sweet Memories...

I found  my old sketch book in the closet this week. Lower left above, is a folder I made at age 16 by stapling 2 pieces of poster board together..

these were done with magic markers
In 1960 my Dad's sister, Aunt Helen commissioned me to make wooden figures to hang on her daycare walls
Above collage is just a few examples of the ones I drew on  plywood and my brother cut them out, I painted them and she hung them on the daycare walls.

In 1975 I bought a book that said Teach yourself to do water-painting

Eagle and the Lion were my only attempts.

Florida Redneck Medical Dictionary.... I found this in a drawer... so watch out, there will be more.

Artery ........... the study of painting

Tablet...... a small table

Oh my GOSH!!! This second collage! You are an artist, I had no idea! And you didn't even use stencils or trace or anything?? The second collage looks just like a Disney illustrator did it. All the rest is wonderful, too. I really admire this kind of talent, because I can't even draw a good stick man. I ADORE the redneck words, keep them coming, more!

You have a talent that you should pursue! Do you enjoy drawing? Maybe you could draw doggies. :) Raise some money for shelter pups. :) Great stuff here, Sandra!

Those are all great. I love your Disney collage and your sketches. I did a lot of drawings in high school but I didn't keep any of my work. It's wonderful that you still have yours.
Redneck humor is always funny.

You are talented, my Dear.

Do you do any, anymore????

Or have you changed, to "making art" with your camera?

You could do both, you know. :-))))))))))

You had the "eye" even before you had the camera. Great pieces!

You should have kept at it! I like that lion! I have some of my old drawings from childhood and school too - and I did take watercolour classes later in life. It was my accident in 2000 that put an end to it, I could not hold a brush without getting cramps, and I've not really taken it up again since.

You need to quit hiding that talent under the bushel basket, and let it shine. Great work!!

I like the idea that you used your talent to brighten that day care centre. I think that creative talent has continued in your life in different ways. The medical dictionary joke definitions are amusing.

Great work. If I showed my drawings no one would know what they were supposed to be. An artist I am not.

An artist? Who knew? I am jealous of your leave drawings. I always wanted to be able to draw good leaves.

I had no idea you were such an artist. Your sketches are wonderful. How fun finding those, a nice trip down memory lane. Had you ever considered being a painter or something with art?

Wonderful work. Do you miss the doing of it?

I just knew it.... we have to much in common for you not to be an artist too. That ability is still there...get yourself a sharpie pen and sketch book....let them doodle out. :)♥

Good grief! You never told us this before. Isn't it fun to come across those things. Love the drawings and watercolors. BTW, I hope you'll keep that header up at least all the way through our long, cold winter. It really warms my heart!

Wow! You are quite the drawer! I love it that you kept all your sketches. A very good way to remises. Wonderful!

I would have loved to have been able to sketch...and I did try...but never any good at it. You, on the other hand, had talent from the looks of this!
