Yucca

One of our most dramatic plants in our yard is the Yucca aloifolia
Common Names: Spanish bayonet, dagger plant

WARNING
They don't call it Spanish bayonet for no reason! The tips of the leaves are pointed and sharp! Do not plant Spanish bayonet near walkways, patios or in areas frequented by children and pets. This plant can inflict painful puncture wounds even through heavy clothing!

What do you call a frog spy? A croak and dagger agent!

Travel Tales

I stood taking my reflection in the bottom of the Empire State Builind in NY NY...

I had no idea the building was on fire until I turned to leave and then I screamed...Scotty, Where Are you??? Beam me to
The Golden Gate Bridge.... Oh Please, Scotty I did NOT mean in the middle of the road in traffic...

No one was injured in the making of this story.... The photos were snagged off of Google Earth Maps and Monkey'ed with In PicMonkey by the Maddest of all Snappers......

P.S.   I got this idea from an email from Pizap that said come to PiZap and take your self anywhere in the world without leaving home. Well.... I did it... but since I am a PicMonkey Addict I used it instead.

Kerplunk! Kerplunk!

Jake
It was raining when we went to bed......lights out....settled 3 pillows the way they have to be...

KERPLUNK! KERPLUNK! OH nooooooo... what has Bob left under the drip-line This Time???
(last time it was an upside down bucket under the drip-line)

I sigh LOUDLY and step out of bed to wander out in the rain to move whatever will keep me awake...

HAPPY DANCE! it is not outside it is inside.... it is the .... FLY SWAT! hanging on the wall and the newly clean fan is making it KERPLUNK! Kerplunk on the wall where I hung it AFTER I killed the red fluffy ball that skittered across the bathoom floor making me think it was a bug..

Think Cataracts.. think not one but 4 red dog blankets that shed red fluff balls..THINK Crazy MadSnapper....
Bob the man who falls instantly asleep after removing hearing aids, knew none of the above, while I settle PILLOWS he does the ZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....

Something OLD ..

Above is the house in PA that my husband lived in from age 5 to age 16. These photos are from Google Earth and Google took them in 2014..  The house was called a twin, what we now call a townhouse or duplex. They lived in the side with the steps and his bed was in the attic room under the the peaked roof, his 1 brother 3 sisters and parents crammed in the 2nd floor.

He and his family worked in this factory that is directly across the street from the house,  from 1941 to 1952 when his dad died.
Each night the family cleaned the factory after it closed. Bob's job at 6 years old, was to push the big broom to clean all the threads and material that fell from the sewing machines. They made men's suits. His mother sewed on the collars during the day, then went home to cook the evening meal, while her husband and 5 kids worked across the street. His dad was a police officer by day.

Since he worked from age 6 to 62, he took early retirement. And kids today think they have it rough.

Home is where the heart is...

This room is the Heart of our Home Sweet Home. Saturday early AM while shaking the kitchen rugs in the dark, I turned and this is what I saw.,
This room  is the reason we bought the house in 1989. The middle of the house is one big open room.
This is looking from back yard to front of house, one big room that is 35 feet long and 17 feet wide. 25 x 17 carpet and 12 x 17 Kitchen tile.
it was last painted and carpeted 18 years ago, but we love it anyway.

I Never Touch Tools

We have two  12 inch Mini Desk fans.. One is on the floor soothes me to sleep at night and stirs the air without blowing directly on me which causes dry eyes and aching bones. The other moves where and when needed.

The  greasy dust  stopped them blowing air... I tried blowing it off with expensive canned air, but all that did was waste air.

I decided to take them apart and clean them.. HA... the 4 screws are almost as small as my eye glasses screws. so tiny it requires a magnet and a teeny tiny screw driver.

I NEVER touch bob's tools !!
A. because that is NOT allowed
 B.  I OFTEN break HIS rules, but I can't find the one I want because I don't KNOW the one it needs.
C. anything tiny makes me CRAZY!

.. I requested he remove the screws and then I would clean them and he could put the screws back.
(yes, there was a method to my madness)

Voila! without me touching a single tool or fan they soon appeared  like new.
Positive Wind Tunnels now and so quiet due to a few drops of oil in the right place.

My Plan  did require me to enter the kitchen when I heard HBO words floating down the hall....

I sweetly asked.... "did you lose a screw"?  NO! I can't find the HBO word Screw Driver. It was right here.... I calmly walked to the other side of the table to view from a different perspective while he was in the garage (insert HBO HERE) thinking he took it back out in the workshop. There it was, inside the fan, upside down..... Life Is So fun... I opened the door and said I FOUND IT....I DID MY PART... or the screws would still be on the table and not in the fan.  Did you notice I am sweet and calm? HA HA HA HA

Archive Diving in 2010

The camera can photograph thought. ~Dirk Bogarde

I went archive diving in the year 2010 and these are some of my favorite photos and a few favorite quotes

A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.
Diane Arbus

A photograph is memory in the raw. ~Carrie Latet

We try to grab pieces of our lives as they speed past us. Photographs freeze those pieces and help us remember how we were. We don't know these lost people but if you look around, you'll find someone just like them. Gene McSweeney

A good snapshot stops a moment from running away. ~Eudora Welty

I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you SEE the world rather than just look at it. ~Author Unknown

Tale of the missing beetle......

Bob found this beetle floating in the pool and brought it to me to play with.. I snapped half dozen photos and sat it on the kitchen table because I wanted to take a few outside in leaves and bushes.

Fast forward 2 days later, I open the camera, see these photos and say

Bob do you know where the beetle is? he answered No, what did you do with it?

I say... I sat it on the table and forgot about it until I looked in the camera.

OMW it was dead wasn't it???
what if it was alive and crawls on me in the night?
What if it flies at me in the dark???

Do you know where the beetle is??

Do you know where the beetle is?

After searching high and low and in and out.....And NO WE DO NOT KNOW WHERE THE BEETLE IS.....

Hello..Again....

I bought a new pillow for my neck. I LOVE IT... I can use it while sitting in a chair, on the sofa, propped on the bed... Feels soooo good... It also makes a perfect holder for my kindle when reading...I prop it on my lap in chair or bed...

Update on my eyes... Think Cataract Surgery... I see the surgeon 2 weeks from today to start the long and involved process leading up to a 10 minute surgery.
Think Insurance Approval Waiting Period.. I mean I have Proof I have them because unlike anyone else I know, while I suffered through 8 hours of dilated eyes, I took a photo to prove to myself I had them.
I mean other than I CANT SEE proof.
NOT that I have Trust Issues, I wanted to KNOW I have them.

Soda, Sun, Shade.....

I noticed the sunbeams hitting the Baking Soda Bob uses in the pool... After the sun moved I took a photo of it in the shade. Then I did the same with the Poinciana pod... the sun pulls out the details, even on a bag of soda...
