Hurricane Irma came calling and blew away our Internet/TV/Phone for EIGHT DAYS. I prepared for losing water, by filling every jug in the house, prepared for eating with no power by boiling eggs.
We did not lose power, 60% of our city was without power and now 9 days later thousands are still without. In a later post, I will share a few things, but first comes the most important. No Permanent damage to our home, 5 days of cleanup work and a pool that is still dark green. we are fine.
NO TV and NO INTERNET for EIGHT DAYS... we searched for a support group to whine with because.....
Hello, my name is Sandra and I am addicted to the internet.

I'm just pleased that you are both okay, but yes please, more info. We don't get Hurricanes here although we did have one in 1987 but not a patch on yours. I am interested.

Oh my word, you are hilarious, Sandra. I think I would also miss the Internet the most. How did the boiled eggs stand up (staying fresh/edible?) So glad you are all OK and that you are back on form. Enjoy gorging on the Internet tonight.
I have you BACK!!! I guess you did not need to drink any of your saved water?
I can't wait!
Just talked to Summer - again! They are in a concrete house in Humacao, Puerto Rico and are 56 feet above sea level. They bought a generator and supplies and ae in the process of hunkering down. PR is expecting a direct hit from Maria......
I sure have missed you, but, thanks to your brief updates, was comforted in knowing y'all were okay.
Now I want to hear all about your experiences!!
Good to hear your whine! We once whined at our house through a 5 day ice storm, I totally understand Bobs need. Good to hear hard work will fix it! ~jackie~
I am glad you have everything working - I cannot imagine Andy without the internet - I think he would die. I saw two more hurricanes out there and I hope surely they will NOT comet o you. Love, sandie
I didn't have internet for a very long time - or TV either, but now I would REALLY miss it. So glad you are back online and that your home is okay.
I would have to move to someone's home with electric...I can't live without it. I am totally spoiled! haha....Glad you are up and going now.
Thankful you did not have permanent damage, but I know you both have been miserable. Glad everything is working as of today.
Ohhhhh MS I bet you were fit to be tied w/o your internet and and OMCs Bob without his pool and his Tveeeeees. I was gonna say I would like to have been a fly on the wall but I bet my ears would have been hurting.
Hugs Cecilia and Madi and we missed you and we are glad you are back and safe
You are safe and that's what is important.
HOOOOOO-RAY! I seriously love your sense of humor!!!
We're presently hit-or-miss on the (desktop) computer. Microsoft thinks we should pay $195 them to avail ourselves of a 'level 2' technician who can fix the squabble between Norton and their stupid updates.
I will be waiting for all your reports. Very glad you had no major damage but a whole lot of clean up. Isn't it amazing how dependent we become on things like the internet and the news? Missed you a whole lot :)
I suffer withdrawal after two hours, let alone for 8 days!
We can't wait to hear all about your stormy adventures!!!
xoxo,

I'm pretty sure that if we went 8 days with no tv or internet one of us would end up in jail for killing the other one. Our power went out for a couple hours yesterday and I didn't know what to do with myself...lol
I'm ready for all the stuff you have to tell us so bring it on :)
I'm so with you on this...hoping that Maria turns northward and stays away from ALL of the USA.
Too much lately, and the destruction is so extensive, it's sad.
Glad you two are okay tho with minimal damage. That's what counts in the long haul of things.
Glad to hear you and Bob and the critters are alright. During Hurricane Juan back in 2003 we were eight days without power or water (we were on a well, no power, no well pump) and it was no fun. We ran a small tv off an inverter hooked up to a car battery for an hour a night to watch the news. I am like you and prepare when I hear a storm is coming.
Take care.
Robin
Good to see you "properly back" - even though I have to say, for someone WITHOUT the internet, I have seen surprisingly much of you online (FB) in the meantime as well! LOL I hope everything stays ON now, and no more storms wreaking havoc upon you.
So glad you are back! Eight days is a long time without TV and internet.
So glad you didn't have to use all that water and the various preps you did.
Living without the internet and tv are things that would drive me crazy. Happy you are back up and running.
I feel sorry for those who are without power still.
Maybe you have to start a group called Whiners Anonymous.
I'm so happy that you are safe. It is annoying when we are internet starved but think of the poor people who have been without a home for 8 days or more.
I feel your's and Bob's pain. I would have gone crazy. So glad your house was good!!
