Plumbago and the Bird

While MadlySNAPPING the wildflowers,  I focused on the Plumbago behind them, the bush first,

 then a close up

Trying to get a shot of Tickseed and Plumbago, Mrs Cardinal, of the silly pair that has built a nest just above ground level in our Powderpuff bush, flew through my lens and lit and stared at me.

She seemed to be wondering why I was taking photos of the door to her new home... I only got these two pics of half of the loving couple. I hope Jakeosaurus doesn't find them home.

the red x is where she sat, the end of the arrow is their front door. Both of them have been flying in and out that whole for days now.
TODAY NOTE: this has been in drafts long enough that Mr and Mrs and family have flown the coop bush safely.

hi there

They are lovely flowers, I quite like the contrast between the bold yellow and the pale blue :) And that red bird is amazing, we don't have those here. Certainly not a camouflage colour (unless, of course, you're trying to hide among red flowers...)

Those flowers are so pretty.
I have heard that when you see a cardinal it means that someone from heaven is visiting you. Since you had a whole family I suppose you had several heavenly visitors

Nice variety of colors today. The cardinals are one of my biggest challenges for photos especially the females. They never stay still for more than a second. Grab a seed and away they go to munch on it elsewhere.

Plumbago...what a fun word!!
Love the pale lavender in the sun shine with darker veins in the petals.

Love the flowers and glad they provided a home for the wayward pair. Jakeosaurus is a pretty good sluether though...I bet he could have found them if left to his own sniffer. Hope y'all are suruving this heat wave.

How you captured Ms. Cardinal mid-flight against that leaf is so great!
I'm glad you assured us, the feathered couple have moved on. All the same, the nickname, Jakeosaurus cracks me up.
