Walmart Incident

M doctor suggested I wear this when at the desktop. It reminds me to sit with head straight. It works
I bought the travel pillow at Wal-Mart a couple years ago, and have used it to hold my kindle when I read.
Walmart Shopping Story from this past Saturday.

Saturday I pulled a card of drip pans off one of the hooks and ripped a hole in my finger with a staple. Dripping blood, I said to the young man stocking shelves, Do you have a Band-Aid handy?

He stared at me, shaking his head and said "no English' I said that's ok and started to walk away... he ran after me saying Wait, I help and he walked to the man pushing the sweeper thing on the floor, and pointed at me, bobbing his head.

The sweeper that I talk to every Saturday,  turned off the machine said Good morning, and I showed him the dripping blood, he said come over here and stepped over to the pharmacy where they give the Flu shots, got a band aid and opened it for me and helped me place it.  I said that young man was so nice, but how does he work if he can't speak English. He said he speaks broken English but probably did not know what to do with a bleeding finger. Or the word for Band-Aid...

How sweet of the sweeper to help bandage your finger. The young man stocking shelves also used his head by enlisting the sweeper's help !

Well that was nice of both of them. The man stocking could have just let you walk away and be done with it and the sweeper could have just sent you off looking for someone else. Your speaking to people everywhere you go paid off.

Wow... that was a freak accident but dang it should be packaged better.
Yep I agree 'bandaid'was not in his vocabulary but blood is universal.

Good morning,

I am glad both men helped in the end. I have been at a hotel and asked the lobby desk for a bandaid and they did not even have one. I should try that pillow idea, my neck is always hurting. Enjoy your day!

I carry bandaids in my purse... it's just a thing one ought always to have handy! How lovely that these lads were able to help you though, regardless of limitations. YAM xx

It sounds like the young man figured out how to get you help even though he didn't know the "band aid" word!

In these days of no-one wanting to get involved, PROPS to those employees for going the extra mile on your behalf! (I hope their store manager reads this!)
I'm going to look for one of those pillows for Tom next time I'm in Wal-Mart! More often than not he has to sleep sitting up, so of course, the neck flops this way and that like a rag doll.

I LOVE shopping stories, and could go on and on with my comment. And I especially love your Wal-Mart stories. Absolutely nothing could happen and I would still love it. Just tell me that you rolled your cart around and what you looked at and what the sales are, I would still love it. I am a shopper; and the next best thing to shopping is reading about it. Now, did you get the drip pans? How is your cut? I have had so many accidents while shopping. Dripping blood, running into the end of clothes racks, pulled hip muscle, you name it. I am CLUMSY. And it is so much worse now, because Christmas merchandise is all crowded together. Especially in W-M, my scooter will not fit thru many aisles, or people are blocking them. So I have to go way out of the way, then come back by another route. And do not even ASK me about people who stop right in the middle or end of an aisle to use their phone!!! Phil told me to honk at them with the little horn on the scooter. I told you I could comment all day, but I need breakfast. Not even half done with what I could say.

I wondered the same thing when you said he didn't speak English. I always keep bandages in my purse. Glad they were able to help you.

A lovely story of mutual care and communication. The shop worker helped you and he learned some new words.

You somehow manage to get in trouble everywhere you go! What will you do next? Can’t wait to hear about it!

That's a nice story. Good that they help out like that and I hope your finger is not so sore now.
