Fake Flowers

The flowers on my kitchen table were almost 20 years old. Were being the clue word. Saturday morning, while wandering Wal-Mart I found a display of flowers in the middle of the hardware section. WM is in remodeling mode and it is a true challenge to find the things on my list.

As a rule I don't care for fake flowers, and NEVER plastic ones.  My mother loved plastic flowers, and once in December, I looked out her kitchen window and the azaleas were in full bloom. She had wired plastic azaleas all over each bush...

Not bad for $3.00 and now I am set for another 20 years, which will put me at 94 years old. YOWSA

I pass by W.M.'s fake flowers all the time, and think they are awful. They look very fake. But these are different. I would never have believed they come from W.M. They look REAL! I don't know how you found them there, of all places. But I do know that your W.M. has things that ours don't. I think the Florida ones must have better artificial flowers just because they are in Florida, so they have to. Does that make sense? Anyway, I love them and when I go there tomorrow I will be looking for them. If I find them, I will be stunned and report to you immediately, if not sooner. I love your pictures of them, the way the blinds shadows are with the light. Really gorgeous.

Certainly, in the photograph, these look amazing! "Silk" flowers can be very convincing. I tend to agree with you about artificial flowers generally and plastic flowers particularly. The vision of your mother's azaleas is hilarious! YAM xx

I can picture the outdoor bushes with artificial flowers. What a hoot. But I can also see that your mom loved color and beauty...she wanted it year 'round. Can't say that's wrong at all.

YOUR flowers are very pretty. And the photos are picture post card perfect.

(Ps...I disabled the lightbox slideshow on my blog. Some photos of mine have been stolen & then they used a photo program to manipulate & used on another site. Gotta make it more difficult for them to take what isn't theirs)

Some look more fake than others. Yours look nice.
There was a house that I used to drive by all the time that planted a garden of fake flowers every year. I drove by one day as the man was planting his fake tulips. It was rather funny.

I love them what a find.
LOL plastic flowers. There used to be a house in an older neighborhood that had flowers were in bloom 365 days a year even in snow. The lady would keep them out until they faded.
She had a ton of them too

I gotta defend your mom - she wanted to see the beauty on those bushes!

From the photos I wouldn't be able to tell if they were fake or real :) I have one big vase on a chest in my living room where I always have fake flowers, it would be too expensive to keep buying fresh ones... Over the years I have collected a number of different fake branches, and I keep changing them around with the seasons. Some are flowers, some are just leaves, some are with berries. That vase is in a place one passes by but where one does not sit and stare at them up close. In some such places I think fake flowers work well.

I never would have guessed these were fake flowers! Honestly, I'm not fond of real ones being dependent on me … two dogs, a hubby and a philodendron are plenty. But these, ya! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

BTW, our Wal-Mart doesn't carry those caramel drops - but I'll be checking Publix.

They are beautiful. I have some just a few in my living room. They do brighten up the place, I think.

This is. a lovely display. I find that some of the newer 'fake' flowers and plants look very real.

LOL! I love that your Mother created color on her azaleas in winter!!!

I laughed when you wrote about your mom and plastic flowers as my mother also had a couple of those arrangements and they were real dust magnets! I have bought any un-real flowers, but the ones you got at WM are lovely, Sandra and what a bargain too!

I love the story about your mother and her plastic flowers. A friend of mine used to have silk flowers all over the house and once when her father was visiting for the first time in her newly decorated home, she came down one morning and found him watering all her 'flowers'. These in your photos are very pretty and I love the color combination.
