Go on! Take a Gander!
Is this fowl play?
A Gaggle of Geese at SPCA |
A group of geese is called different names depending upon whether the birds are in the air, in the water, on the ground or on land.
When on land, the group is referred to as a gaggle. A group of geese flying in the air is called a skein. Once the group goes onto water, it is called a plump.

VERY cute! I think the grey geese are Graylag. I had no idea about the Plump!!
Yes, you are quacking me up. Loved this. I didn't know they were called different things depending on where they are.I learned something new this morning.

quaaaacckkkk - honk honk hoooonk... YAM xx
I wonder how the birds got their different group names...I wish I could remember all the ones I look up. A group of eagles is call a convocation and vultures had a couple names...the only one I remember is when they are dining on a carcass, s group of them is called a wake.
You certainly are quacking and I just love it. Thanks for the lesson too but I suspect I may forget those terms far too soon now.
Always have a chuckle at your funny posts and love those geese.
One thing I always seem to notice in a gaggle of geese - is there is always a pecking order - who gets the food first. I have really seem some bullies there.
Cute photos!
I love the word gander!! Once I left something on my boss's desk for his approval. I had a note attached take a 'gander' at this for me.
He came to my desk with the strangest look on his face...asked me what 'take a gander' meant.
Love Friday Puns

3 differing terms? I'd no idea! 'Wonder if those ganders don't become confused themselves? ("What am I now?")
Love that Muscovy Duck's coloring!
TeeHeeHee...Wonderful puns this morning!!!
Love the geese family.
Coffee is on
You are such a clever girl!!!
Plump? This all new to me!
Makes me wonder how the word "plump" came to mean a group of geese in the water. I get a charge out of your making me laugh and enlightening me in the same post!
love the geese, they are so cute.
