Everyday is a school day 2

I have bean around the block a few times!

Here is one thing I learned.

My mother's sister Pat was an animal lover as am I!

Once when I was spending a few weeks with her I was opening cans and dumping stuff and I left the can as you see it above.  I pushed the lid down inside the can and threw it in the trash.

She  reached in the trash can, and lifted it out and handed it to me and said remove the lid all the way.

If you throw it out like that some poor cat, or raccoon or opossum while digging the trash will get their paw stuck in there or even their nose are the snout.
to this very day I have never left a lid attached to a can!

I know you will wonder why this info below is on a can of beans. WELL this is what was scheduled and I am updating.

Bob's MRI, shows a tumor in the eye socket, that if not removed can go to they eyeball or the brain. It has not done that yet, but is growing rapidly.
The surgery will require two surgeons, one to do MOHS surgery and an Ocular Surgeon to do the closure.
MOHS at our Doctors office, in AM and closure at the other docs office or clinic.
Might be MOHS in afternoon and next morning closed at other doctor.
it will be bandages and stay that way until the second surgeon. I HAVE NEVER heard of this.
The problem is, getting Bob to ONE doc appt is HARD, two is harder.
Plus, no swimming 6 weeks. he missed 3 months and it really sent his health down hill, he has been back swimming 6 times and is already better.
This is hard. Thanks for caring.

Yes, Phil had to have the Mohs done one day by a Mohs doctor, then the closing the next day at a hospital. I will remember this about the cans, I do it the wrong way! And we have skunks, squirrels, foxes, and groundhogs.

Gosh I wish him the best of luck - and God be with him and you. I have never heard of this either, but Ginny had. Is the tumor the skin cancer?
Thank for the tip on the can top.
Love, sandie

Thanks for telling me about the cans. I have been doing it correctly because it seemed safer.

Good luck with the surgeries...that sounds so scary. Wishing you both the best.

Oh my...scary times. But if surgery is the only option (which I know it is), then, it's best to save a life...Bob's! Yes...and put the lid inside the can!

That is not good news. I so do hope you can get him to both doctors and that the procedure is successful. Sending hugs and best wishes to both of you. The lid thing makes sense.

Since ever I was allowed to open a can I was taught to remove the lid completely (whether by opener or the pop-top), then to place the lid flat on the bottom and crunch the top together - to prevent any accidents to the collectors as much as anything. That's especially true in these days of recycling. (Wildlife not so much a problem for raids here).

Will keep Bob in my prayer list - that's pretty serious surgery stuffs... YAM xx

I read that once about removing the lid all the way and I always do.
I am still praying for you guys that everything goes well with Bob and that you can get him to go to all the appointments with little frustration on both your parts.

I'm so so sorry Bob is having to go through all this and I know the swimming is good for him...and hard to give up. I'm keeping him in my prayers. Take care...both of you! Hugs!

Your Aunt was a wise woman and a forward thinker...I don't know that many folks back then even thought about their trash once it left their house.

I will keep you and Bob in my thoughts and prayers. Caregivers to the patient are often forgotten. I pray for patience for the caregiver and successful and healing surgery for the patient. He is luck to have you and you can REPEAT me.
Hugs Cecilia

My gosh, this needs to go viral! (The cans that is … not Bob.) Pretty sure I've always completely removed lids, but now I'm wondering how many folks don't. Just the thought of a little animal -- any animal -- being caught makes my heart hurt!
How I wish there was a compromise to be found for Bob's 'no pool' rule. Praying!

I'm sorry to read about the tumor in the eye socket. Glad he feels better being back to swimming but sorry that will be taken away again. Not easy.

Good point about the tin cans.

And I do care Sandra...bunches...
Prayers for you that you will have extraordinary patience and say the right things at the right times.
Prayers for Bob that he will agree to the surgery...thinking about the consequences of not having it may push him forward...
Prayers for the Doctors and their skilled hands....
Prayers for all the travel and appointments that they will go smoothly and that everyone will have an extra measure of kindness towards both f you.

I'm sorry to hear this but I'm glad there is a plan of action and of course I will be praying everyday. ((Hugs))

We save cans for shooting. I dislike the pull off tops. I wrap them in paper towel and hide them deep in the trash can so we don't cut ourselves if we push the trash down. My can opener opens the other ones without sharp edges.

Praying that Bob can have the surgery and then be able to move on with life.

So sorry to hear about Bob. Sending hugs and prayers.

You are a dear heart in so many ways, but I think the can story is also a good lesson for us all. I am diligent about what goes in the trash and my what if I am always telling hubs. I don't even have to remind him any more :)

Something told me I had to come and read your blog today. Once you get Bob to the first appointment, he will want to go to the second one. To get it over with. No swimming seems so much worse. When we get our age and miss be it swimming or walking or whatever good things we do, we do go downhill. I know you will worry. I will think of you and I'm sending lots of love. Take care and best to Bob.

I always rip the plastic holders that go around canned drinks, but I have never thought about can lids!
I hope all goes well with Bob's surgery. Sending {{hugs}}.

Hoping for a very successful outcome. I am glad to here a solution for geting the cancer out was found. I was very sad when I read an earlier post where surgeon opted not to do it. Prayers and hugs to you.
