Which direction???

do you know the streets you drive on?
If you are out walking and you fell down and you had to call for help would you say I'm on 18th Avenue and 18th Avenue Drive West
or would you say to your husband on the other end of the phone I'm in front of the house where the pitbulls lived.
I'm in front of the two-story house I'm in front of the house where the darn dog lived
Just come to the 2 story house that is behind our house!
What if you were down and wanted to say help, I've fallen and I can't get up and you called 911 and they asked what is your address?
I would say I am on 17th ave drive west and the house I can see says 3801.

Bob would say, go to my home address, walk out the driveway and turn left and then left again.
at the 4 way stop, turn left again..
or maybe he would say
You know the road that goes to Publix? I am on that road and close to the one that goes by the school.
Got it?
He can find and address if you give it to him, and if you take him someplace ONE time he can find it again 5 years later. He can't tell you how to get there, but he can go like a homing pigeon.
I need and address.
When he tells me something he saw, he says, what is the street we take to the hospital. I say 21st Ave. Right.
or the road to the doctor. I don't know why or where I am going with this.
Closing with Just Sayin
as for the goofy photos, I had to try out the cell to see if it takes NOOK and Glass and Lights photos
Just so I know

The pictures came out good and clear. I am directionally impaired. I even get lost inside small buildings. I only use landmarks, like you say. But I am really trying now to notice street signs and memorize them. But it is likely too late, as my memory is going. Phil has a really good sense of direction like Bob, so we are lucky! He says he just follows his nose.

I once said I'm in the street with the white house what has a green fence as my car broke and I need a service guy... he was familiar with people like me and said, walk to the next store or street sign please and call again ;O)))

LOL - I'm a good navigator, so addresses work for me too. Though I can work with the other if need be. Lovely images. YAM xx

Your smart phone shows location to where the call is coming to first responders (or I should say it will if you activate location thru your settings)

Love the photos...but I like anything glass.

I have to go somewhere several times before I remember how to get there. When Wade and I would go to his parents at Christmas I would would get to an intersection and ask which way. He would say we've been this way before, why can't you remember? Now I thank goodness for google maps and the little voice that will say take the next right/left

Hello,

I am usually great at remembering directions but not street names, I go by landmarks.. We do keep a GPS in the car or I can pullover and use my phone when traveling to new places. I love your nook and the lights, they look so pretty. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!

I need addresses, too. Like Ann, I thank Hod for the little voice that tells me where to turn. How did we make it before the voice?

Meant to say the pics are marvelous!

LOL LOL we still refer to houses by the name of the previous owners that we knew when we moved in. RE: The Rice's house has been owned by 3 different families but it will always be the Rice's. A house caddy corner from ours is still LeeAnn's house. That is where a friend of Marlu's lived. Since her family moved years ago we have never known the names of the families.
We are the original owners of our house and there is only one other house owned by the original owner.

Our situation is similar to Cecilia's. Most of the time a house in our neighborhood is referred to by the first owner's name. Partly because that way our adult children who are now out of towners know immediately where we mean. A couple exceptions are homes that we refer to by their dog's name - haha

The photos look great as always. The - come and find me - does not apply to me now as far as streets go, but if I fell down while hiking in the hills, you have alerted me to the need for providing clear directions. Or maybe I will just yell, HELP! A friend gave me a whistle on a pretty ribbon once and I really should carry it. I don't hike in the summer, just walk on my country roads around the place, so I would be easy to find.

When I hiked Saturday morning I told my hubby a hawk flew right where the wooden sign used to be. hahaha! He knew what I was talking about. We sometimes say, where so and so used to live. Our neighbors have changed over the years and sometimes we don't know the new neighbors. I can dial for help with my watch which makes me feel better about being out and about! Hugs!

This made me smile too.
I'm a bit directionally challenged but will eventually get where I need to go. Hubby and I just had this type of discussion the other day while talking to a neighbor.
The street at one end of our block is Freeman and the one at the other end is Foothill...always get mixed up as to which one is which. The neighbor laughed because he does the same thing...
Actually the Freemans live on Foothill...I wonder if there is someone named Foothill that lives on Freeman? Silly me.
Love your shiny crystal by the way.

Wow, on Bob's memory! I don't often recall landmarks; instead street names. Tom, on the other hand, has an easier time with numbers (e.g., 41st Place, 32nd Street). All Greek to me! Maybe we've not been here in Coosada long enough, but I fear his memory is slipping. Like this morning, he was asking me where is such and such and I'll say, "Don't you remember when we were there just last …" Bad, I know; it just comes out of my mouth before my brain can engage.
Interesting scenarios, for sure! Thanks to you, the one thing I have committed to memory are big buildings' exits.

I navigate by remembering landmarks, such as playgrounds, a purple house, a dead tree. I'm very bad with "left" and "right," howevder. When riding with husband, he'll say, "Which way do I turn?" And I'll say, "Left!!" So he turns left. Unfortunately, I meant to say was "right."

It reminds me of a friend of mine years ago. She was supposed to be driving home to New Mexico from Colorado but went east instead of south. After about 75 miles she figured out what she had done and phoned her husband... she told him she would be very late...she was in Vail.

"What are you doing in Vail?"

"Buying a map."

Dear Sandra I have to have an address. Men seem to have the ability to "home in" once they've been there before. Thank you for the comment on my latest post. I'm still abed and frustrated. Hoping and praying it heals completely this week. Be safe. Jo

Those are real pretty photos. I wonder if I would remember my own name if I had a bad fall. Stress tends to make everything fly out of my brain.

That's a fun post. I get it! What we say depends on who we are talking too. I think your cell is doing a great job with the nook!
