Visit to the Ocular Surgeon

Today one week ago, we drove 14 miles, which took 40 minutes of traffic and lights to get to the Surgeon office for a consult on when Bob's tumor will be removed from his eye socket/lid.

It was 97 in the shade, and I was thankful on Thursday that there was ONE shady spot, and we got it. We waited looking at the view of the dreaded mask and the beautiful view, for 35 minutes.

We then waited in the consulting room for another 1/2 hour. I was in the corner behind Bob and he has no idea I took this. I think he might have been praying for patience in the 2nd shot.
I know I was.
We are thankful the surgery will be 3 weeks from today, July 30th. It requires a visit at 10 am to MOHS surgeon to remove the tumor, then at 3 pm same day the 40 minute DRIVE in heat and traffic to get the Ocular surgeon to repair the eye lid.
Ginny and Phil, a blog friend had this same thing, so we know it is common to have 2 surgeries at different times.
He may have to wear a patch from1 to 5 days, depending on how much she has to do..
I am praying they will let me wait in the office somewhere while he has the lid repair.

I am still praying that you can be with him! They wouldn't let me in when Phil had his Mohs, but I stayed in the waiting room just outside the door.

I sure do hope they let you wait with him. I think it's wrong that they won't let at least one person accompany a patient.
Glad you got through the visit and the long wait. I know how horrible it is to wait with a man who hates waiting. Especially when he's waiting for something he really doesn't want to do.

My thoughts & hopes that a successful surgery is in the stars with knowledgeable and skilled surgeons! You two have had more than your share of health issues these past few weeks...something good MUST come your way!

I hope all goes well with the surgery and you can be close by now you have a date. I have a hospital appointment this week, but no-one can be with me.
Thankfully I know where to go in the building and being on my own I'll probably concentrate better, take my time and not worry about finding a parking space or about hubby or granddaughter, who offered to come, having to wait in the car as I don't know how long I'll be. So long as I get a lift there and back I shall be okay. In Bob's case he needs you there after the surgery. Love and prayers.

I really hope they let you in. When Tom went in for a nose bleed recently they wouldn't let me past the front door, I had to leave him there and pick him up in the morning.
I'm guessing that Bob does not read your blog, lol

Hope all goes well with Bob’s upcoming surgeries. A friend of ours has undergone similar procedures and also had to go to various doctor offices and multiple visits with drives from NJ to Phila, PA. Thankfully, your drive is shorter, but no less pleasant in heat and traffic

Sending tons of prayers and hugs to you and Bob and some extra patience too being a caregiver and chauffeur is challenging.

PRAYING they let you inside ... lest you inform them you're about to have a heat stroke. It's always good to know someone who's experienced the same procedure. Makes it less scary, you know? Marking July 30 on my calendar!

Glad that a date has been set and I hope they let you go with him. (I haven't been writing much. Bad fall a week ago, and still recovering.)

This is my take on things today: The virus is really making life difficult for those of us who are not well. I have worried about having to wait in the car, something I haven't had to do yet. If not in a shady spot, I don't think I could do it. I so hope you will be allowed in when you have to wait for him. At least now you know when the surgery will be, sorry about the time it takes to get there.

I'm so sorry you both have to go through this, and I do hope they let you go in with him. What an ordeal... sending love and best wishes.

I'm glad to hear that it will be taken care of. I will definitely be praying for him. If that were Mark sitting there he would be sleeping!
