throwback Thursday the ring n the Santa

My son Dan was born in 1967, Our music minister and his wife, had been married about a year. She was pregnant and when I would bring Dan to church, she would grab him and run off with him, walking him around to make him smile at everyone. She was in love with him.
They had a Baby girl just before Christmas, Dan was 8 months old. The Owl Santa was a gift from the Baby girl to the Baby Boy. It has lasted 53 years, maybe because it is only worn a few times.
The ring was bought at our neighbors yard sale, when Dan was 5 years old. He went across the street with a quarter and came home with this ring. I wore it off to work each day for a week or so. It was a big hit. ha ha
The dish I laid them in to take a shot, was part of my Grandmothers pink Depression Ware set.
The dishes date back to the 1930's.
My grandmother married in 1923, my mom was born in 1925.

Such precious memories of a lifetime! Irene, our first born, was 2 years behind...1969. Those were good times (mostly good).

It's good to have happy memories and something tangible such as the ring - kept all this time. Our second daughter was born in 1969 and it was an interesting time. I loved the 1960s and 70s and still find that period of time fascinating.

What wonderful memories. That was so sweet that Dan bought that ring for you instead of getting something for himself.

A triple treasure.
I once posted of the bouncy chick my kids brought home from a yard sale. The owner told them it was an earthquake chick. If it jiggled there might be an earthquake. It sits in my kitchen and they still call it that. So far we're safe.

It's fun to have a few things that are kept to remember...even better when they are small like this! I need to dig in my hope chest and see what's in there! I have a few Cracker Jack prizes and there were some neat rings in those. Enjoy your day! Stay cool.

The garage sale ring story is so ❤️warming. I'll bet it made little Dan feel proud when you wore it to work! Does he know you still have it?

Inquiring minds want to know if you kept in touch with Baby Girl and her parents? I've been known to think of people from waaaay back and look them up on FB. Not to try and connect, but have a peek.

You have tended and loved those adorable treasures...They both look new.
The ring reminded me of the mood rings in the mid 70's

Your family history,
That precious ring,
The pink depression glass,
and
You telling us all about it.What a treasure you have kept for all of these years.
Our first born arrived 7-28-68
I guess we are both of a certain age..for sure.
Will write you later.
Doing my care-giving duties one day early today...

Those are true family heirlooms, Sandra, and the history behind each of them is what makes them even more treasured. I have a few similar items that while not valuable will always be so special every time you look at them.

Interesting items. Not everyone would keep these things that long. I know I have thrown out some things which I wish I had kept.
