The Big Green Plant continued

For years, I have taken photos of my Pothos Plant. I have done dozens of Pothos Posts about all different types and indoor and outdoor Pothos plants.

I say I was Shocked! when I ran a search to find Pothos Plant to replace the dying one that has been in my kitchen for 32 years, I could not find one that looked like mine.   I googled and googled and finally found out  my Big Beautiful Plant is not a pothos.

It is a Heart Leaf Philodendron and very similar... Our yard if full of pothos. You have seen it on my blog.  Bob kept saying just plant some from the yard, I kept saying it is not the same pothos. on and on.

I finally found it by typing Heart Leaf Pothos in search because the leaves are heart shaped. And now All My Labels are Wrong on the Big Green Plant in the kitchen.

PRIOR POST known as Kitchen Pothos are Now On LABEL  Heart Leaf Philodendron.

Wish me luck, they are easy to grow, hard to kill, and we shall see what we shall see. How hard can it be?

photo from my archives, See why I googled Heartleaf to find it?
I liked Pothos better because it is easy to spell, unlike Philodendron

I have had heart leaf philodendrons and pothos both, and kind of thought your plant looked like a philodendron. But the two are so similar. Pothos has white in it, but if it doesn't get enough sun it will turn all green. And that would look exactly like a philodendron. What a shock to find this out after all these years!

Now you can rest easy that you have not been harbouring an alien invader all these years. As for philodendron - just give it a name. We will all know who you are talking about. Good luck growing son (or daughter) of phil. Xxx Mr T

I used to have that growing in a hanging basket but I never knew what it was called. Now I do.

Isn't it amazing what we find to write about on our blogs. I would think it would be boring writing about a house plant but it isn't. lol

Anything heart shaped gets my vote. No matter what name it has.

I used to have both pothos and philodendrons - and I know there are several varieties of both of those... I've had none of them in more recent years, but I remember the pothos as being easy to renew by taking cuttings. (At some point I must have failed, though, as I have none now!)

Hello,
I had one of those heart shaped plants years ago, they seem easy to grow.
They are pretty. Good luck with your plant.

Well how about that. I used to think the one I had was a philodendron but then I kept hearing pothos so I figured I just was mistaken. Now I have no idea which mine is.

LOL - I also had both - and here is where I confess that I always called both philodendron until a pal corrected me about the pothos, at the time I was giving them away to leave for India. All those years they had been Philwon and Philtoo... YAM xx (Yes I named all my pet plants...)

I would somehow manage to kill it no matter which one it was! :D

All I know is I am like you with house plants...though I think part of it is the lighting they get. I did have one house where I could grow some.

Crazy! I was just the opposite -- kept calling them philodendron, because that's what my mother said. Then when I found your blog I started saying pothos.

Love that photo with the single droplet,! Do you ever polish the leaves with mayo?

You know when you wrote about them before I thought they were Philodendrons.

You could just call them a name like "Philo" and then when someone says something about all the plants say they are offspring of "Philo" - and add you can see that is true has they all have the same "heart of gold, that ancestor"
