Licensed to Carry! |
I found this photo in one of the albums, it is from 1990.
Yes, we are all holding hand guns. Just home from the firing range, having just completed the
Firearm course required to Open Carry said guns.
Are you thinking WHY?
That year, there was a rapist running wild, preying on women who were jogging.
My cousin and her friend felt safe with two together, but had stopped running due to hubby pressure.
I was selling Real Estate and several realtors had been attacked while showing homes or holding open house. One Realtor was murdered and a teacher had been kidnapped and murdered.
Our broker required us to go to a seminar on how to protect ourselves and the precautions to take while showing houses.
the Seminar was presented by 2 off duty policemen, who also trained at the firing range.
I learned a lot, that still is with me about safety precautions.
Scan the inside of the convenience store before you rush inside.
When about to leave car and enter, pay attention, scan to see what is inside and outside.
someone may be robbing the convenience store. if they are LEAVE FAST
Don't sit in your car digging in your purse, or counting money, or balancing your check book.
Go in groups, don't walk alone
4. Go in groups of people,
M cousin and her friend did apply and receive the license to open carry
and did wear their guns while jogging.
I passed the course with ease, but never applied for the license.
I mean who would buy a house from a realtor that was packing a gun on her hip and if it was in a purse what good would it be?

That's interesting. I was too busy looking at the faces in the photo to notice the guns. That must have been scary!
Hari Om
re your own arguments against - just so!!! neat photo for the annals though. YAM xx
Great photo! I take all the same safety precautions, and I learned to shoot as well but never even thought about getting a license to carry.
LOVE this photo ... Charlie's Angels, revisited! Wouldn't it be a hoot to get together now and re-create this scene?
Scary times, yes. I remember when that realtor was murdered. This was about the same time my co-worker and I took the concealed weapons class at the Tampa Police Academy. Unfortunately, I don't recall them sharing any of this good advice. Some folks' nonchalance bugs me to no end.
Very interesting.
I agree - Charlie's Angels. Do you still have your gun?
Speechless. Lots about you is surprising or amazing but this one left us speechless!
If it weren't for the big smiles the picture would look like they are holding you up because it looks like they both have their guns pointed right at you
That would have been scary with all those people being attacked or murdered.
I thought it looked like they were both pointing their guns at you, too!Scary times then and now.
Great photo! My Dad was a police officer and he taught his girls a lot about taking care of ourselves. A lot of it was osmosis. To this day I am considered overly cautious and when I do something extra cautious that makes hubby smile, I will hear "policeman's daughter".
You already know that I think you look(ed) like Tyne Daly in the Cagney & Lacey TV show (1980s NY police series)... ;)
