Keys to Happiness while living with Murphy

Funny thing happened while scanning my groceries last week.

I carry my keys on a ring that I wear on my middle finger on my right hand, I do not carry a purse
except on rare trips to medical facilities when I need papers and stuff.
I carry my debit card and drivers license and a card that says I have a dog at home that
needs help in a wrist wallet.

10 items scanned and the screen said NNNT NNNT error, not in system
lay aside and call cashier
What? then I realized I had the keys on my finger and it had scanned the bar code
for Winn Dixie discount.
Before Brain Fog, I always use the safety pin that is on the key ring to attach keys  to my clothing
while scaning.

Feeling like an idiot, I called the cashier and said I accidently scanned my WD card because my keys were on my hand.
She said no problem, this happens a lot!
I said Really? She said Really! and I said well I learned my lesson.
She smiled and said Good. and walked away.

The Very Next Week Murphy was still on my shoulder.
I scanned a lot! on the next to the last purchase, I laid 2 squash on the pad and pushed look up price, and tapped the picture of the squash and NOTHING HAPPENED.
I tapped it 3 times. I tried Back Up
NOTHING HAPPENED
My Friend the cashier came over and said just tap it again, she tapped it 3 times, she tapped Back Up 3 times, and said
I hate to say this but you will have to go to another checkout and
RE-SCAN all your items.
this one has to be shut down restart!!!!
I pushed the basket over and sat each bag, took the wand and started scaning, she said I can do it for you if you want me to. I said no I am used to Murphy's law.
Not only die he stop the computer but he waited until the LAST TWO ITEMS!
Why couldn't it freeze on one of the first 3 items.
She and I were laughing so hard she might get written up for playing on the job.
I see her every Saturday and she is like a friend
Sunday AM I had to return and item and when I passed her leaving the store, I said I can't talk to you, Murhpy lives in your lane, I have to hurry, Bob and the dog are waiting in the car

I love Wal-Mart and I love Amazon! I love scanning my own purchases!

Just so you know people whom I know that don't love any of the three!
HAHA
PS I also love PicMonkey because I can make funky  keys photos.

Phil has scanned the wrong card in the grocery store, I think it happens a whole lot. Because everyone has so many little cards on their key rings. You make friends everywhere you go, i believe you are so beloved in your city!

Self checkout is good until it isn’t ;) I agree with Ginny about you. You know no strangers as the old saying goes. That is a true gift!

I'm one of those who doesn't love Walmart or self checkouts. I do love Amazon though.

Hello,
I am 50-50 going through the self check out without having some kind of problem. I do love Amazon. Take care, have a happy day!

Just like Dustin Hoffman says in movie, Rain Man, Walmart sucks! (Of course it's K mart but I changed it for me!)

I don't carry a purse except for Drs. visits too. I bet that DOES happen often.

Well, it's two years since I ever went grocery shopping. All hail the e-shopping revolution. However, if and when I do ever go to a multilane store, I choose to use cashier-attended every time. Keep them in a job, I say. And Murphy WILL show up for YAMster if she tries the self-scan!!! YAM xx

We still love ordering our groceries online and picking them up outside! I may never go inside a Walmart again...which would be fine with me! Hugs!

I will self check out at Walmart(don't buy groceries there) but not at the Grocery store I have too much and I'm not as quick at scanning as the Grocery gals.

I am pretty sure that your attitude was like a breath of fresh air to the cashier.

You are not going to believe this...
I wrote out an entire comment and went to publish it...
A screen popped up and said error, can't process your comment.
Try again...
So here it goes...maybe I've got Murphy-itis too.

I shop at Wegmans here for groceries and just over a year ago they put out an app that you use on your phone that allows you to scan your items as you shop. It works just like the Instacart people do whey they are shopping for their customers. When you are done shopping you go to the self check out and scan a barcode on the screen and it brings up your total purchase. Then you just have to scan any coupons and pay with a card. I love using it and like that I get to pack my bags (using my own cloth bags) as I shop.

I know Wegmans hasn't moved all the way south to where you are but maybe someday some of the other stores will have this available too.

Well, one out of 3 ain't TOO bad! Again, I love how you find humor in the strangest of situations. I'll bet they love you there. Giggling, on account a few hours ago the machine at Publix froze up when Tom was trying to pay. He kept telling it he didn't want cash back but it kept insisting he choose $20 $50 or $100. Finally, the clerk just canceled the order and said, "Let's try again."
Murphy is everywhere!

Mom can so relate. There is one self checkout at our local HyVee that always has problems. It took three weeks in a row of it freezing for Mom to decide to NEVER use that one again:) But she does love the convenience of self checking.

Well, I do like pic monkey and doing fun things with photos, but as for the others they are just things we must put up with in today’s world. Your blog is such fun! And, I love that you enjoy reading old western novels.

Self checkout is usually something I avoid because it is not human contact. We hardly ever shop at a Walmart as the closest one is not that convenient and we tolerate Amazon when all else fails. Your self checkout experiences were a great post topic and glad that your friend helped out.

I wear my keys and my wallet on a wristband when I shop. Only YOU, funny lady can make a hilarious post about a scanning malfunction!!!

It sounds as if you are out and about and busy shopping. I don't like shopping or using the self scanner machine. Mr P and I go together to the same store as I like familiar routines and a quick entrance and exit. We use the cashier but I always check the receipt to make sure there's no cashier errors. Take care Sandra. Hope your brain fog lifts soon.

I scan my purchases at Target. I enjoy doing that. I am not a Walmart shopper. Sorry about the issue you had. Glad you have a friend there at checkout. Murphy is a pain in the butt!

Hello Sandra,:=) You made me smile with this funny post, when you can see the funny side of things that go wrong, you must be feeling better. We don't have a Walmark, or any of the other stores mentioned, but have five large supermarkets in town, however since Covid, I shop on line now, and am very pleased they deliver, even though the farm is quite a distance away.

In a earlier life of mine, the bus card had to be inserted into a slot - how many times I tried to put another card in of the same colour, amazing! Of course the other card was some totally different reason, but they were both blue coloured!
