I was all done with the microwave post but then I had a few comments that I just need to address and who can say no to found blog fodder? Plus I had 4 photos I did not use.
Above, see the view of the pool, the stove and the nobby knees.
Yes, Nobby My knees are named after you.
Tigger asked about the Popcorn Button. No, Tigger, it doesn't fill with popcorn or ping and fall out on the floor.
Here in USA Microwave Popcorn Is BIG! Throw the little bag in, set on 2 minutes and remove. I always just used pushing the 2 and stopped it just before it got there because 2 is too much time and the popcorn turns black.
Because of your question I asked Google why a popcorn button and the button cooks it for 1.79 minute s which is Just Right. I will try it soon and let you know. You also wanted to know why they dont' make them with doors in the top. Google tells me if you want the door in the talk they have microwave drawers that you pull out and sit the food down inside the top of the drawer.
Who Knew? I bet this one did not cost $119.00!
since I am HERE again I want to show you my favorite snack. I freeze fresh strawberries and when I want a snack, sit two or 3 in the microwave and hit 30 seconds and do only 6 seconds and YUM, they taste like fresh baked strawberry pie.
NOTE: if you have a senior moment and let it go the full 30 seconds, you will strawberries mush that will have to be put in the trash can. It Tastes Terrible! Don't ask how I know!
We moved here in 1989, there was a space/hook up for dishwasher, but it was a BYOD, bring your own dishwasher.
There are only two of us, and I prefer my counters as bare of STUFF as I can get them. To that end, I begged the HE man to put a shelf in the space for the microwave and this is the 3rd one to live there.
The black containers are to collect recycle plastic in one and cardboard and soda cans in the other.
The true garbage lives INSIDE a dog proof Cabinet, in its own container.
In fact the trash cans in the bathroom are also in the cabinets for the same reason.
Not that any of OUR dogs would EVER think of getting in the garbage cans.
Now you know there can be two very lengthy post about one microwave purchase.

Two probably isn't even enough for MOI! You know that I always want to know ALL. We must be the only to families left in the world who do not have dishwashers! Who needs them when there are two people? I would much rather have the cabinet space.
Pull-out microwave - who knew? It looks like something my forgetful aging human would pull out then stumble into.... When we moved into our English house it had a huge floor-standing boiler in the corner of the kitchen. That was quickly replaced with an efficient modern one leaving us with dishwasher+++ of extra space. F is somewhat anti-dishwasher (she'd write a treatise on the social ills of dishwashers if I let her) so a bit of the space got installed with some of those clever rubbish sorting bins like you have, and the rest got turned into what became known as the russian cupboard - cos when you opened the door the stuff came rushin out at you. (The cupboard for all the weird stuff that had nowhere else to go.) You don't seem like the sort of housekeeper to have a russian cupboard. xxx Mr T
We have a dishwasher but I use it for storage. Like you, there are only two of us so washing by hand is easier.
we love microwave popcorn too... but our fabulous dad ruined the popcorn a lid and the microwave in one step... you only have to set the time at 15 minutes and then leave the kitchen LOL
Well that pull out microwave is rather interesting. I've never seen one like that.
I'm pretty sure if I set the microwave for 30 seconds there's not much chance of me remembering to open it in 6. I would have to just set the timer for 6 seconds instead.
Hello,
Your microwave sounds perfect and the price is just right.
I love popcorn but I had to stop eating it due to heartburn. Popcorn does have to be popped just the right amount of time. Take care, enjoy your day!
Hello Sandra,:=) I found out a lot about microwaves that I didn't know. Never knew their was a one with a pull out drawer. I seem to have missed your earlier post but gather from reading this, that you have just bought a new microwave oven. Mine is on the blink at the moment so will be looking for one quite soon. Thanks for the strawberry tip. I don't eat popcorn. Don't think it's as big over here as it is in the states. We can buy it in cinemas though.
😊
We have trash in cupboards too. Not to "save" critters, but just because I don't like them in view.
You could do a third post and tell us more of your favorite things to fix in the microwave. OR, the worst things you have ever tried.

Yeah, I saw a dishwasher drawer for a single person the other day too... honestly, there are all sorts of weird and wonderful kitchenalia to keep a gal entertained... and posts about those things too!!! YAM xx

We have a dishwasher as well for 2 people in the household. I know several people who do use their to store pots and pans, which I've never done. Instead, I try to run it every few days vs. washing small things and draining on the countertop. Since there's limited counter space in our apt galley kitchen, a permanent dish drainer would not work and take up to much space. You found a perfect location for the microwave, Sandra, and I learned something new about ones that let you put food in from the top!
Strawberry mush...LOL
Now I'm anxious to see what our microwave's popcorn button says. I actually prefer my kernels burnt, but Tom's a purist (lol).
Speaking of the boy, I'm going to remember that strawberry tip. He buys the (pre-mushed) frozen strawberries, but that's becoming harder to find.
I agree about the counter space. Our microwave hangs above the stove under the cabinets.
We are trying old fashioned popcorn in a microwavable new container. From Amazon - but I do miss the butter and salt.
I might try those strawberries!
Fascinating info about that open from the top microwave. I bet it does cost a boat-load of cash though.
I wish our dishwasher worked. It would make life a whole lot simpler for me. Getting it fixed would probably cost more than a new one(which we don't have the money for).
Love popcorn and do it in the micro too. I agree 2 min. is too much. Ummm, I sure could use some GOOD strawberries. The last ones we had were tough and not very sweet.
Sue
I've always liked trash cans in the cabinets. I really like that Bob put in the shelf for you. We do air popcorn but our microwave does have the popcorn button. I love the 30 second button. Also, Adam and Gabby got that drawer microwave when they remodeled the house they bought.
I bought a microwave from Sears on sale for $50 ten years ago. I am about ready to get a new one as it is starting show signs for replacement. I have had it on the counter and the next one will go above. These days I would rather have the space. Thanks for the tip about the strawberry snack, and I am going to do a hunt for the pull-out microwave. I expect it will cost a lot more than my $50 on sale gem! ;)
Well, Ginny and Sandra, I don't have a dishwasher either, but then it's only me, so it's OK. My microwave is about to conk out, I think. Mine just sits on a small table that originally went with the furniture we bought for our living room when we moved here. Not needed in there, it's perfect for the microwave with my toaster oven on top. Only problem is I have to bend awkwardly to clean it, a bit difficult these. days.
