This is the first thing we saw when we woke up the next morning after Hurricane Ian's visit.
Under all the debris we found 76 Avocado.
This means I can bend and stoop and pick up something 76 times.
They fell all day and night and rolled on the roof sounding like Bowling Balls.
We put these two containers out by the street with a sign that said Take what you want.
Bob took a box full to the YMCA.
The below containers 42 of them.
The blue container was found on the curb of a neighbor, and I had been using it to move thing around the yard, it had a long pull handle.
The good news is the falling avocado helped us meet the neighbors. 4 Families we did not know.
I knocked on doors asking if they wanted avocado, and each took 3 to 5 of them.
the 4th house, the man and woman, college age, took 2 and I said if you want more, come with me and get what you want.
They went in the backyard and saw the containers and when I said it was going to the curb she said, we will take it out for you, and they did.
We entertained ourselves, without TV, internet, computer, by watching cars stop and get so excited at the size of them
One car was 3 people older than us, and it was like they had discovered Gold.
We had a fit of giggles watching them hustle.
The last lady stopped while I was in the driveway, and she said can I have all of them? I said sure, take the blue box, I got it off a trash pile. She grabbed it and sat it in the seat and yelled as she drove off, I have a huge family and we thank you
The next day, we had 25 more, and I took a wooden box off our porch and filled it.
When we got up the next morning the entire box was Gone.
Bob said I told you they would take the box, and
I said, I got that box of a trash pile 3 months ago and you
never painted it and never will and neither will I.
It was a nice box, but who cares.

You've made a lot of people happy! Bless you.
Wow, a lot of people around there must be hungry. You must be the only person around who has the tree! You were a lifesaver!
disasters that affect a close community - yield so much more - especially when it's fruit from a tree - go Sandra and Bob sharing the bounty that Ian graciously helped you to distribute
you brought joy to the people and you met some new peeps... good thing... sorry for the box.....
Maybe these avocados come from an orchard somewhere brought over by the storm?
omg, that’s great! you’ve made a lot of people happy! love ya! Xoxo
...and they look undamaged!! I bet most appreciated you giving them for free. Something good came from this storm.
That sure is a lot of avocados. A lot of happy people getting them for free too. That would be fun watching people stop to get them.

Well done, nothing beats sharing and seeing the joy of receiving. YAM xx
Hello,
It is great to see the avocados not go to waste, they did make a lot of people happy. It is a joy seeing people happy, love this post! Take care, enjoy your day!
I hope your tree lives. That was so nice of you. They are so incredibly expensive here.
They were a blessing to people and having the people to watch and even meet new neighbors were a blessing to you!
You've sure had to work hard after the storm! But I'm glad the avocados survived and you could share them with others. Hugs!
So sad but also look at the community it has created; people that would have never interacted otherwise coming together over avocados. Love it! xo Diana
Sandra I am sorry you had to hear all the avocados fall but what a blessing it was to have them to share and none went bad. That tree must have been loaded
Hugs cecilia
PS glad you have your mojo back
What Jean and everyone else said.
Did y'all have tears in your eyes, witnessing everyone's joy? I do!
Well, how good that you were able to share all those avocados with all those people! ... not letting them go to waste! :)
I'm so glad you were able to give those avocados away.
Wish I was there. Avocados here are over $1.00 a piece and they are tiny, about the size of a pear.
Nice of the people to carry the bucket out to the curb for you. 75+ pieces is a heck of a lot of goodness. Wow
Hope your bones are feeling better. What a lot of hard physical labor.
I'm glad you have a record of all the damage to your area. What a mess.

Amazing!!!! I would love to have seen all these happy people!!
That is so cool. I love that you did that and that you got to meet neighbors. I would have loved some of those avocados!
