iPhone Camera Depth

iPhone cell practice shot using Portrait

To learn the inner workings of a camera, I sit in my chair
and poke the buttons and take a photo and delete it.
Using Portrait gives photos depth and a bokeh/blurred background.
After this shot, I discovered I could tap the screen on the place I wanted it to focus and using my thumb change the lighting.
the above was just using auto portrait.
The great news is, almost everything I learned by watching youtube videos, works on my Samsung also.

While eating lunch, I notice my tiny spray bottle was glittering.

tiny bottle fits in my hand

I tapped Portrait, tapped the bottle in different places taking shots of each.
I touched portrait, and started tapping the bottle on different spots and taking a photo.

I ended up with 3 that I kept to Play With. See below

The pics were really appealing to me, as I fiddled with them, I decided to cut the background and as I Fiddled with them ina little more in
PICMONKEY on a blank page, I did a little of this and that.
The condensation in the bottle inspired me.
Some of you may not understand my need to do this, but I find

Joining Caturday Art

Maybe I could hire Julia Roberts to sell my photo. For some reason I thought of her.
I have watched several hours of youtube on hidden secrets of cell phones and this is one I learned that is good to know. Cell phone cameras can be activated without unlocking your phone, by swiping left on iphone and up on android. The camera works without using the fingerprint.

Very cool and informative as well. I learned something new. I had no idea that I could get to my camera without using the fingerprint. To think of all the shots I missed because I took the time to unlock my phone to get to my camera.

As I don't have such a phone, that part is academic... but in terms of photography, I love your playing around! YAM xx

I knew about swiping left...I learned it quite by accident.

Your nails are so pretty!
A (late) blog friend once coined, "Every day is a school day" and now I believe it. Better than that old "Hints from Heloise" column my mother used to clip.
Have fun!

I'm so impressed by your ability to absorb all the techie stuff and then adapt it creatively to whatever crops up in your ever-fertile imagination. I, however, am happy when I make it through the day without dropping my phone in the potty. Yes, I did that! I was able to fish it out and it still works. These days, if I want a moment or scene captured on the iPhone, I ask Hubby to take the phone and shoot!

You and my son Mark are in the top of your class when it comes to iphone photography. That's all he uses and is so creative just as you are. love the "Julia Roberts" photos especially.

Love my iPhone camera. In Portrait edit you catnip the 'f' and adjust how much blur you want.

I have smart TV, a laptop (connected to an extra monitor), a tablet, a smartphone (actually two - the oldest one isn't really very smart any more, but I've kept it for emergencies in case something happens to the other one). They're all Android. I also have two Kindles. I love them all as long as they work as they should... ;)
