Yesterday I posted a photo of this heart thingy and asked if anyone could Identify it.
I received these 3 comments below.
Blogger Hootin Anni said......a wick dipper(For pulling up candle wicks)
Blogger Yamini MacLean said...Yup, I see Anni beat me to it... you use the base of the hook to fold over the burning wick and extinguish without smoking, then with the hook, fish the wick up again before it seals, ready for the next burning session... YAM xx
Blogger Mevely317 said...I was going to suggest you use the lens app on your phone to identify that 'thing' -- but I see Anni beat me to it! After you introduced us to it (lens) you wouldn't believe how many times I've used it.
After I read Myras comment I did a face slap and emailed her to say thank you for today's Senior Moment Post.
I simply pushed down (right click if no touchscreen)on the photo of the heart shaped thingy, and used lens search and up came the heart thing and a whole lot of other things with heart. I had a blast from the past looking at all of them because the first one was a rug beater that I had seen in my childhood.
Senior Moment One was I had no clue where it came from or what it was until I got the 3 answers. As soon as I read Annie and Yams answer my Senior Memory 8 ball brain came up with the answers.
In the distant PastWhileStillWorking someone at my workplace gave me a hideous, stinky, candle, a huge one and it came with the Heart shaped candle extinguisher. It has since resided in the bottom of the junk drawer until I cleaned the drawer a few days ago. I have cleaned that drawer at least once a year since 2006 which is when I retired. We will never know how my brain works.

That's so clever! Thank you all. ❤️
oooh I NEED such a thingy... amazon, right?
🙂
I never thought to use lens. It's another one of those things that I know is there but never remember to use it.
When I read Anni's comment yesterday I knew she had to be right though.
Hi Sandra :=) I guess you'll be using it from now on. I have a candle snuffer but it doesn't look like yours.I had a lot of fun looking at all the metal things.
I had no idea what it was. But I am so interested in that lens app. I am going to try it. There is something I want to see what it is!
Perhaps you should start regular - guess what this is - postings on your blog. Even photos of tiny extracts of POO might work for that. xxx Mr T
PS - you could make a linky once a month thing and we could all link our 'guess what this is' mystery items.
I dont have a brain any more....
WTG to all those who knew what it was. I had no idea.
Truly never seen one. I have a candle snuffer. It has a long handle. The end of it there is brass bell. The bell is placed over the flame.
Hugs Cecilia
I've never seen such a thing! And I burn candles a LOT so I can see how it could come in handy!
A wick puller?! Geez, I had no idea such a thing even existed! But I am so glad this mystery is solved, I was so curious!
Mystery solved..its a great idea but I don't think I would ever remember to use the durn thing..another thing for my junk drawer..haha
Sue
We burn candles all the time and yet I had never seen or heard of this tool and even though it looks useful enough, I won't be rushing to buy one...just another thing.
If I were going to guess, I'd have said one of those 'arty' bubble wands that were so popular in the 90's. A rug beater, too! I'd forgotten those.
We've not burned candles in the house since the vet hinted that (aroma) might have contributed to Caraleigh's death. Still, that wick-puller-outer -- while sounding cute -- seems like little more than a gimmick.
Fun post!
Hello
I have never seen wick dipper. The heart shaped one is cute!
Take care, have a happy day!
I really need one of those...I burn candles all the time and never thought to get one!
This was very interesting. I didn't know that about that tool. I've never tried the lens app.
