In Plain Sight on WORDY WORDY WED

Remember this from a few days ago?

This is the OTHER wall in the spare bedroom with rocking chair.  The photo wall is all family, humans only. the dogs have there own wall in the kitchen. I hate this wall, it is created from thrift stores and 3 things taken from the neighbors curb trash.
I don't want to see this wall. This wall can not be seen from the hall or any room in the house. If I can't see it, its not there.
Junk like this makes me crazy. Crazier, is what Bob says.

Speaking of crazy! this iron has lived on the top shelf in the closet on the 4th wall you can't see for 34 years. It simply sat on a shelf, and when in the workforce was used several times a week.
this iron caused me 24 hours of STRESS!

I washed  a load of my clothes, for some reason the t-shirt I have worn for 2 years came out so wrinkled I could not wear it to Walmart. I just knew my friends would not know me if I did not have on my Walmart shirt.
I thought no biggy, lay it in on the bed and iron the wrinkles..

We have FOUR huge closets and 1 linen closet. Since I keep nothing I don't use, there is always space.
In the year of 2020, I took everything out of every closet, tossed and donated and organized.

I searched every closet and All the MANY cabinets we have. NOT TO BE FOUND..
I checked them all and gave up. 3 hours later I checked them all again. Bob said what are you DOING?
THE IRON IS GONE! you threw it out, you know you throw everything away, says the man that has keys from a house IN PA, that he sold in 1970 when he moved to FLORIDA
NOTE! I never touch his Chest of Drawers OR the garage! I might do a post on just what he has.

The next morning I came in this bedroom and started removing things from the closet, he stands in the door saying what are you doing? LOOKING FOR THE IRON!
What? he says and when I glare at him, still  pulling things off the shelf,  shaking his head he goes back to the blasted blasting TV.
Under 1 pairs of old jeans, neatly folded and a bag I used to carry a laptop in, I found the bag of Iron laying flat under it all, hiding in plain sight.
I forgot I put it in the bag so I could SEE it when I needed it, which appears did not work well. It is now in the closet IN PLAIN SIGHT! the thing is I put it up there in 2020 and I have not used it since then.
That is good news, no ironing for 4 years, the bad news is once again the Senior Moments are here to stay. I will try to remember to leave it in plain sight in case I want to wash that shirt again. I might just wear it dirty...
I just remembered a TV series that I loved. In Plain sight! I am off to see if i can find it and see if it was as good as I thought. I stopped this post and checked, and now it is in my Prime List...GOOD NEWS!
PS  Bob asked why it was in the bag! I said, TO KEEP THE DUST OFF in my sweetest voice.😉

I love this post and I'm glad you found the iron. I scarcely think that qualifies as a senior moment, though. That's always been the way things go for me, it has nothing to do with age. I just celebrate when I do manage to find something. 😊❤️

I agree with Cheerful, as I have often put things in 'safe' places only to 'lose' them. It had even happened in The Grey... And you know how much space is not here to mislay things!!! YAMA XX

That sounds like something I would do. My biggest problem is finding craft items. I'll put something down and later I spend 1/2 hour or more searching for that item. Usually I find it laying right in front of where I was sitting. There's also the times where I know I have an item and I search for days wondering where I put it. Sometimes I eventually find what I'm looking for and sometimes not.

I love this post and one doesn't need to be old to put stuff in a 'safe' place and not have any idea tomorrow what constituted a safe place yesterday. I lost some ferry tickets like that once (tucked them into an internal pocket in my backpack that had never been used for anything else because they would be safe there. It was months before I found them again. These days when I am putting something in what might be an odd place tomorrow, I stand there and do a little dance to remind myself where I was the last time I saw said item. Trouble with that is the little dances start to overlap on one another.... and there is the time I don't do the little dance because I am being completely distracted when I shove the garage key into the pocket of a coat I seldom wear.... Fewer clothes seems to be the answer, fewer random places to put things down. Like you I don't venture into the man-space but you wouldn't credit how many times I am called upon to find something that I have been accused to moving or hiding in there.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who rarely, if ever, irons. I do know where my iron is, however. It is on top of a cabinet in the guest room, which is the room where the ironing board is hiding in the closet. I mostly use the ironing board to wrap Christmas gifts on. I can adjust the height to where I need it to be while I stand and wrap, and it is perfect for that job! I enjoyed your post and have been chuckling along with it as I read it. Although I understand you don't like cluttery walls, etc., the picture wall of your loved ones is special. I have some places like that in my house, and even though they aren't professionally framed or arranged, the faces are of people I love, many of whom are no longer with us, so I am still happy to see their smiling faces. That is also in the guest room, but I have some on top of dressers in my bedroom too. Anyway, I loved your post and totally understand about trying to find things that we put away in plain sight so we could find them easily! LOL. Great post.

So glad you found it, that would drive me nuts until I found it. I have done the same thing! Yet it is impossible to keep all things in plain sight!

P.S. Like you, I have an iron, but rarely use it.

I'm constantly doing this! I JUST ordered bags to use with an appliance I them in the I can't find them...ridiculous.

Why is it that when we are looking for a misplaced item, the last place we look is where it’s found, Sandra?
I do know where the iron is in our apt, so let me know if you ever need one again as I hardly ever use it. Wrinkles on a shirt don’t both me as long as it’s clean😉

Our iron stays in the master bath closet with the ironing board which I very seldom use any more. That doesn't hurt my feelings any. *lol* Looking at the unkept way most dress these days I keep telling myself that wrinkled is the new "in" look and quit worrying about it. 💙

I'm glad you were able to iron things out!

Ohhhhh lady, I love this so much! I'm laughing and nodding like a bobblehead.

I'm in serious envy of your closet space. If we'd not been in such a hurry to find a house to buy (in 48 hours) the lack of closets might have nixed the whole deal.
I can't remember the last time I used our iron, and I THINK I remember where it is. Just in case, I'd better look.

PS - I love your photo wall and that comfy looking chair. You've just given me an idea for another post.

I guess all of us Bloggers are in the same boat..Hiding in plain sight for sure.
Dave was just looking for a snapshot for the memorial service we are going to Monday..He said, I just saw this 2 days ago and put it "in a safe place" so we can take it..needless to say he was rummaging for 2 days..there it was in the folder where he first found it..loosing stuff makes me crazy.
I do know where my iron the hall closet...where its been forever. I think the last time I used it was getting ready for Amanda's wedding 2 years ago..

I agree with others above, you don't necessarily have to be old to forget where you put stuff years ago - and *especially* not if you've rearranged things with the purpose of making them easier to find! (lol)

I don't iron all that much but there's usually at least some item that needs it after a wash. I have my ironing board up all the time in my study (which is also the room where I have my wardrobes). It stands by my big bookshelf and I also use it for other "standing work", like if I take down a heavy book to look something up, or sorting papers etc. (I know you don't keep a lot of books but I do!!!) I never put the iron away, it "lives" on the ironing board all the time. It doesn't bother me when I sit at the computer or my desk, because then I turn my back on it!!

Great post. So glad you found it. I'm sorry you hate that wall in the spare room with the photos. I wonder why your t-shirt came out wrinkled. Glad you found your show to watch. Enjoy!

Such a fun post. We love following your train of thought:). Mom has always ironed and doesn't understand how her kids get by without it. Our human sister-in-law didn't have one for years and bought one so when Mom and Dad visit, she now has one:)

LOL, I can not say how many of those "in plain sight" moments we have had here. I am glad the iron was not thrown out.

Take care, have a great day!
