Bloviator...

2008  photos

At the YMCA I noticed a new poster on the board and stopped to read it. It said Camp Talk-A-Lot and I was so excited thinking... AT LAST! a new program I can handle.... Alas, the fine print said 3 to 5 year old and I am just a TAD past that.

The above collage is my 64th birthday celebration in 2008, that Heritage Park Rehab home surprised me with. I volunteered for 6 years there and my JOB was..... are you ready? Talking, talking and telling tall tales. If you look closely, the one thing you will see if in every photo, my mouth is OPEN...

Camp Talk-A-Lot brought up these 3 stories from the past. Bob so kindly reminded me of them when I told him about the camp.

1. In 1984, my husband and I worked in Sears automotive.. I was greeter dispacher for all the mechanics jobs. Bob and his friend Mel were standing at the counter and Mel said... "Bob, its a good thing Sandra doesn't work outside" and I said WHY? Mel said "because with all the talking you do, your tongue would be sunburned."

2. Hubby and my 25 year old son and myself were leaving church and as I stood in a group of people TALKING, with the two men waiting impatiently for me, My son said to the group "my mom has a black belt in conversation".

3. When I first joined the YMCA in 06, Bob was talking to the lifeguard and mentioned me. Renee said "Isn't your wife the one that talks alot?"

Now you know why my post are so LONG and full of verbiage... I write like I talk... And all this Bloviating is not my fault. I was  born to be a bloviator...and to bloviate in person or on line. The funny thing is, a few days ago, while reading a book in my kindle, the word bloviating appeared in a sentence and I thought WHAT? tapped that word and this is what came up... It is a for real word and fits me perfectly.

I may just change the name of my blog from MadSnapper to Bloviator...

Brilliant! I had no idea that was a word :) I thought you made it up! Haha. Funny stories, thanks for sharing. I'm back home since Thu night but with a lot of unpacking and catching up to do. And 1000 photos to sort out. (No, not exaggerating.)

Your post title had me curious. I love that about kindle when you come across a word you don't know the meaning to.
I think your bloviating ways are what makes you one of my favorite bloggers. I love your stories, they always put a smile on my face

Hilarious! Love the stories. Oddly, I'm much more a bloviator when there's a keyboard under my fingers. It's a great new word!

Good morning Sandra! Thanks for the laugh this morning. I like the definition of bloviator. I learned a new word today. I think my hubby would be competition for you, he is a talker! Have a happy weekend!

HILARIOUS....BLOVIATE IS A NEW WORD TO MOM. IT COULD APPLY TO HER TOO
A BLACK BELT IN CONVERSATION. YOU WERE SURELY THE PURRFECT PERSON TO VOLUNTEER TO TALK. MANY YEARS AGO WHEN MOM WAS STILL WORKING AT NC State University they advertised volunteers to help in the English as a Second language class. All she had to do was talk....
hugs madi your bfff

PS Bloviate...doesn't have the same ring as Mad Snapper!!

I like your blog. I had alot of shy friends and less talkers. So I am known too as the talker.

Mine you. I have now converted them so now. It is a wee bit easier.

Glad I am not alone. Also I am called the Social butterfly.

I am also called Ma.Donna.

Not because I am sexy and I know it. Ha-ha.

Because I am a fussy pot on my hair and clothes. It has to be just so. Not fond of remarks.

I guess we are who we are. My daughter gets. Your your Mothers daughter alright.

I enjoyed your blog and the remarks people gave you.Nice pictures. I had a good chuckle from your blog.

For sure that is You.

I, for one, enjoy your bloviating! And admire that you have a black belt in conversation. There are days when I would like to attend Camp Talk-a-Lot for sure!

Oh Sandra you made my day!!! I too am a talker--or used to be a really good long winded talker--then I realized that I was not learning anything about any one else--so now, once in a while, I do ask a question and then close my mouth long enough to hear an answer and to learn something about someone or something--
my favorite saying about myself is--
"Open mouth--insert left and right foot"!!!
I can always seem to say the wrong things--I try too hard to be the 'fun' one and usually end up with 'mud' on my face!!
But now here is the worse thing--
I have a very loud voice--always have--probably always will--
my Dad used to yell at me all the time about it--
in fact the last thing my Dad said to me the last time I saw him was--
you are talking toooo loud--and I was trying so hard that day to
talk quieter!!
I have lived in a Senior place for 12 years now and am often told--
I talk too loud--but--there are so many here that can't hear--
so one has to talk loud--gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
thanks for listening--love, di

Keep up that chatting, Sandra, and the name if yiur blog is lerfect "as is" except you could add Mad Talker, but it doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

You are too funny, or as we would say here in Ireland 'you're gaz', meaning that someone or something is funny.
Lovely post

Happy Birthday! Being a conversationalist is a gift! Don't change!

Well that's a new word for my vocabulary (Bloviate) - I've been accused of that myself from time to time. - I agree though that you aren't (inflated or empty) at all with what you have to say. I enjoy your tales and love the way your write. - By the way #2 was my favorite.
