All That Glitters.........

A simple city park, a very ordinary ditch on a hot summer day. that is where I found proof that all that glitters is not gold.

I stood scanning the 3 inch deep water as it trickled over plants and sand. I moved to my right and saw sparkles. First shot, not so good

second shot, a little better, trying to get the camera to focus on the sparkles. the slowly drifting current appeared black, with strands of sparkling diamonds.

one foot to either side the water became ordinary,  clear as crystal, sand and green plants. nothing worth wasting a shot.

At last I found Just The Right angle and here we are, God's creation had become a work of art, glittering droplets of water in strings of diamond like strands

Enlarge by clicking the photo, on this last one look at the bottom strand of diamonds.
Ahhh.....magic, never to be created again, a once in a life time liquid diamonds photo.

I was there, I witnessed the transformation of the ordinary to the extraordinary and captured it with a simple Click, Snap, Click.

FANTASTIC! At first I thought you were shooting in black and white. I absolutely love these. More treasures in our "own backyard"!

Truly amazing! I seem to learn something new about "seeing" every time I come to your blog. What a great photography course I'm getting and I thank you.

To answer your question, I didn't photoshop that house. It is credited to "margherizla" but don't know the location. And, I don't have Photoshop--yet. Trying to decide between the $2000 one and the $49.00 one. = ) Not really but would welcome a suggestion as I want to "fool around" with my photographs.

Best,
Bonnie

Isn't it amazing what a camera can capture, Sandra? Love the pictures... They are amazing ---and I'll admit that I would have paid no attention to that ditch.

Thanks for sharing.

Hugs,
Betsy

Amazing!! And even though I know it's a ditch, it's so black for being in the day! I see the lovely strand of diamonds at the bottom of the picture! This reminds me of one of my favorite John Prine songs. Some of the words are "Ain't it funny how an old broken bottle looks just like a diamond ring?" I think of those words often.

I like all the shots of the sparkles-amazing how moving to one side or the other makes such a difference.

Thanks for telling us where that came from. I never would have guessed. To answer your question about my header it is a bridge in Kennewick, Washington.

Sandra, as far as I am concerned these are some of the best photographs you have done. I think you should enter them in a contest of some sort. Just gorgeous, and from such a simple little ditch. You go girl!
