Come Out, Come Out, Wherever you are!

We live about 15 minute drive from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. As a volunteer at a local nursing faciilty, I was allowed 5 hours of fun where the Private Airplanes live and play. we took several residents to fly in a helicopter, 3 at a time for free. NO I did NOT ride in the helicopter (frightened of heights).

As we waited for the helicopter to do its 10 minute flight, and come back to pick up 3 more, i was OF course Madly Snapping. I saw 2 seaters and 4 seaters and well known jets landing and taking off only a few yards from where I stood and as they rolled past I watched as they lifted off. I went home with about 500 photos.

What to my wondering eyes did appear? A cart pulling a helicopter out of the hangar onto the tarmac. The dog is what I noticed first. WOW an Air Dog......

after they pulled out the helicopter, we quickly abandoned the wheel chairs, the residents went off into the wild blue yonder leaving the Madly Snapping MadSnapper on the ground.
The biggest of all the private jets started to roll forward, I followed behind madly snapping. it. ( I was there to document the trip and I did, but am not allowed to show you those photos)

It was a JET and it rolled within a few feet of where I was standing and several people boarded as a passenger jet roared over our heads. Who knew about the NOISE. I do now.

Yes, I did think about for just a minute that those engines might all of a sudden kick in and fry my camera and of course ME, but I had to do it.
Tomorrow's Phun Phriday Post will show you just a small part of my PHUN...I will stick to 339 of my 500 photos. ha ha

That would have been so much fun but I would have had to take a turn in the helicopter, I so want to ride in one.

Great shots of the jet but you were pretty close, I'm surprised someone didn't chase you away.

Wow, you were indeed close to that jet !
Your pictures are wonderful, and those helicopters and jet were sparkling clean, they must of had a bath for your photo shoot ?
Sarasota, one of the prettiest places I have ever been, especially Lido beach.

What a fun day and how great of you to snap all those neat pictures! The dog in the cart is amazing! I saw your comment at Remington's site and although I really have to get to work I just had to see who felt the exact same way about him as I do! I am now going to be following you around (so thank you for sharing a small part of your life!)and looking forward to some more of these really fun posts!!

wonderful photos of a trip that I am sure had everyone filled with wonder and delight..
also I really like your new banner up top.. such color and texture..
very inviting..
500 captures eh? "laughing".. oh my we all tend to get a wee bit crazy..but hey.. why not.. its not like its film.. where one has to be careful of when they click.. as each click costs..
so my dear.. click away..
some of those captures of the planes just blow me away..feel like I am there.. without the noise..
smile"
have a beautiful and kind day..
soft hugs..

Gosh, we spend quite a bit of time at our local airport and I just finished getting even more pictures! BUT, ours only has private planes and gliders, and no helicopters! It is tiny. I love your snaps!!! An air dog? Did you find out about him, what he does, etc? wonder if he sniffs for drugs! I love that picture of the two of them riding. And am loving the pictures of the two big back jet thingys on the back of the plane! The wheelchair by the plane is a very poignant picture, such a wonderful thing for these people to be able to do!! I imagine they weere so excited!! It would be cool if you could post the comments each one had about this. I'm up for posts on this for the rest of the month, bring it on!!!

Be EXTRA sneaky snapping in Wal-Mart. A blog follower just got in trouble for it. She says they don't allow people snapping their stuff, and are quite strict about the policy. She did get her photo, and posted it, but it was not a good incident. This would not stop me, I'd just be real careful.

I don't like heights but I'd have jumped at that trip. I've always wanted to ride in a helicopter. My son works for ABC here and goes up occasionally to take pictures. He won't let me go with him. Boooo!! He probably can't legally. Oh well.

I promise to look at the first 300 but I can't be sure of any after that. Nice job. Very pretty, and it's too bad you didn't go in the helicopter. They are lots of PHUN! and you could have got some great photos.

How cool! I was in a helicopter similar to one of those years ago - my uncle flew it. It was fun.

And hey - I'll be counting tomorrow - I want to see all 339!

These are wonderful pictures from the airport, but just think of all the great pictures you could get if you had gone up in that helicopter.
