Ca D' Zan Private Garden

Outside the mansion there are 4 gardens, this is part of the amazing fence that encloses a small (bigger than my house) walled garden, just outside the kitchen door. Tomoorow we will visit the Rose Garden. Mable had 3 private small gardens.
The best way to garden is to put on a wide-brimmed straw hat and some old clothes. And with a hoe in one hand and a cold drink in the other, tell somebody else where to dig.
- Texas Bix Bender,

Why do potatoes make good detectives?  Because they keep their eyes peeled.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

I wish I had a garden even a fraction of that. Mine are mostly weeds. You know the kind that don't pull out of the ground easy. I like the idea of telling someone else where to dig but I haven't figured out how to get Duke to use the shovel yet.

I forgot to mention your new header yesterday. It is beautiful! All the pictures are beautiful. The reason I don't have a garden is because I can no longer pull on those weeds until my face turns blue.... :-) I use to garden when I was younger, but that is long gone. These knees do not allow me to kneel on them anymore. The only thing we plant is something that will come back year after year on it's own, and we don't do much of that anymore.

Love the blog...But..I put on sunscreen on my nose and ear's, put on long sleav shirt to protect my arms from harmful ray's of the sun. Then go on a serious hunt for the shovel, rake, wheelbarrow. Do I need a hoe (don't go there). Some one borrowed these. I will go to my NEIGHBOR'S and find out who borrowed these precious tools. First neighbor no I did not borrow them second neighbor, wants to talk about my Ho (don't go there). Third neighbor is watching the football game, well it is 4:30 pm
I'll do my gardening tomorrow. I am aufully tired and thirsty.
Got a beer old buddy. Cell phone rings, it's my sweety, Madeline. She say's those dreaded words "Hon, those tools you are looking for; they are in the garage" Madelineit is 5:30 dear. No further transmission.

So it's like a fence wall!! I just love the angles and perspectives you've taken these pictures from! The first joke, I recorded that on the prayer line not long ago!!! And I love the last one, so funny, and TRUE!!! My favorite picture is the second one: WHY?? Because look, look at those trees and that architecture, you have showed God's sculpture and man's sculputre side by side, one behind the other. It almost looks melded or blended!! God and man co-created. You Don't need to guess which is my favorite! To me, that one picture is stunning!!

Can you imagine taking care of that many gardens??? BUT--since they had alot of help, I guess it was easy... Can't wait to see more of the Roses.

Thanks for telling me what I have been doing wrong as far as gardening is concerned. But I have a feeling that if I were to tell a certain someone where to dig, she'd pour the cold drink over my head!

Oh that last quote is so true, weeds require major strength to pull them out. The garden is gorgeous, I can just imagine Mabel supervising the planting of every flower and shrub.

Oh this is beautiful architecture. I love that fence/wall with all the arches. And the palm trees add to it looking sooo exotic... from my Northern point of view ;)
