Library LIGHTS

I have been visiting this library for TWENTY years, the last FIVE every other week. How did I miss this?

I stood on the bottom stair leading to the second floor and this is what I saw.
in spite of the stares from fellow visitors to the library, I went up 5 steps and it totaly  changed what the camera saw.

found these on Guy-Sports.comhttp://www.guy-sports.com/humor/stories/story_library.htm

Actual Questions Asked of Librarians:

Do you have books here?

Can you tell me why so many famous Civil War battles were fought on National Park sites?

Do you have that book by Rushdie, 'Satanic Nurses'? [Actual title: 'Satanic Verses']

I am seeking a directory of laws that I can break, so that I would be returned to jail for a couple of years.

Do you have a list of all the books I've ever read?

That is a fantastic light fixture, definitely something that needs photographic attention.

I can believe there are people who would ask such questions but it makes me wonder if they actually ever read a book!

Those are very cool lights. When I first saw them I instantly though of bokeh
I'm surprised that the people who asked those questions were even able to find the library...lol

Love those lights. I've just finished weeks of sitting on the new library decorating committee (as the board representative). We've gone over everything from flooring to lights to tiles, etc. Great fun and, of course, under the guidance of an interior decorator.

Best,
Bonnie

These pictures are great! They look like a painting to me. It is amazing to me what the photographer's eyes see. I know I am not a photographer because I would have thought, hmmmmmm that is a different kind of light fixture.....period.....You definitely have a good eye! Ann commented that it made her think of bokeh. I did not know what bokeh meant, so I looked it up. This is what I found. I have gained a new word. Thanks Ann.
Main Entry: bokeh
Definition: a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image
Example: The bokeh, or quality of the blurred image in the photograph, was described and discussed.

I'm curious as to what the mayor has to do with the library? Our present library was built in 1976. It just isn't cost efficient to update a library that old. One option is to raze it and rebuild on the same site. This would mean finding a temporary solution to house the library but has been successfully done in a number of areas. It's one option we considered. Once we move into the new facilities, we (the board of trustees) will sell the present building. The mayor is not involved.

My computer problem was the wireless router. I had done all the turn off/turn on/redirect/reboot/etc. but never thought about the router. Nor, apparently, did the experts!!

Best,
Bonnie

It is amazing, isn't it, how one learns to see things differently through the camera - things one otherwise might not even notice. I know people passing by must often wonder what on earth I see through mine that's worth taking pictures of.

Oh, I love these lights! I always love things hanging on different levels, such visual interest!

I love libraries, too. I hope to visit one or two on my trip next week; just to see what they are like in other parts of the world. Hopefully I will be able to take pictures to share!

Oh some of the things people come up with! ha ha!

Many moons, I love it!!!! And each picture totally different! Maybe they just got the lights and that's why you never saw them before? I LOVE taking pictures of different kinds of lights!! Hey, tonight the moon is going to be the biggest it will ever be, only every 18 years it gets this big. It's got a fancy name. It rises here at 7:45, you may want to check it out, they say it will be huge and you can reach out and touch it. But only when it first rises on the horizon. Go somewhere flat and unobstructed.

You have, again, opened my eyes! I go to that same library every week and I've never noticed those lights.
As for the quotes, whoever said that there are no dumb questions must never have worked with the public!!!

The light photos are great Sandra. You just never know what you'll find when you're out and about. Have a good weekend.

Looks like wonderful public art--a light mobile, and you have captured it wonderfully for us. Loved the questions for librarians. And I bet they were just as courteous as they are for less off-the-wall questions!

People don't normally pay attention to what's hanging over them until it hits us in the head.

Ha ha! - Do you have books here? :-)

Take care Sandra and have a great weekend :-)
