Above photo is the tomato and below is the flower it produces.
(bought tomato not ours, they are not ripe yet)
Old gardeners never die they just vegetate
We now have close to 100 flowers in waiting , soon to be tomatoes
. The research assistant couldn't experiment with plants because he hadn't botany.
this is the other type tomato, both are vine tomatoes, just a tad different. Below are the flowers from this one, there is a marked difference in the flowers.
Some of you, did not know flowers produce the fruit from tomatos and other fruits. Here is proof
see the tiny flower pushed out of the tomato?
Are you amazed yet??? I am. My dad raised us on garden produce, but back then I had no digital camera and had no idea how much fun a tomato plant could be
Can any of you guess what the next thing is that my husband has planted? He asked me to buy one for the seed and I did.... YOU WILL SEE IT TOMORROW

The ripe tomatoes looks delicious. A hundred flowers? That's a lot of tomatoes, I'm thinking homemade salsa.
Maybe some type of melon?
Wow, that's a lot of flowers. Are you planning on canning any of them?
I have no idea what your husband had you buy but I'm sure that Mr Green Thumb grew something spectacular with the seeds from it...lol
These are absolutly beautiful. The blooms and tomatoes show up great.
Tomatoes translate to "MATERS".
My how Sandra's garden does grow, full of sunny tomtoes and punny garden chuckles! And I cannot guess, because the possibilities are endless and exotic in your locale. Can't wait to see!
Now you had me fooled... I though it was your own tomatoes already turned red!
Well it has to be avacado because I do that all the time. :)
Sunflower?
No I had no idea that the tomato came from a flower. None at all even though I grew tomatoes once!
I do know they are delish - have you ever had a tomato sandwich?
Sandie
I never looked close enough at the tomato flowers to see what was coming from it. I'll guess your husband had you buy peas.
Oh Sandra, these photos are STUNNING!!
The flowers and ripe tomatoes look just great!
I really enjoyed them!
Have a lovely Tuesday!

You're going to have a lot of good eating when all of your tomatoes ripen. These are all wonderful pictures.
Phil and I are scrolling through this in amazement! It's still a wild idea to me! I accused Phil of not knowing this, and him being a country boy. He has just defended himself by saying he is really a hybrid; they moved to the city when he was 7. I can't wait to see what's next and follow it with you. Maybe you should have a weekly gardening post. I have said this before and I'll say it again. I think a lot of the things you have down there in Florida and take for granted would be great to post, to most of us they are exotic and unknown. O.K. maybe not tomoatos, but I wonder how many people knew about this?? Or have actually seen it in these stages? Even without the tomato growing out of the flower, the georgous flower pictures are worth it alone!!
Over-thyme -- ha ha! Love the pics and information -- thanks for sharing!
We never can get enough tomatoes!!
And i saw your picture (leaf) is back! Yeahhhhh!

It's just no telling what hubby has going in his herb garden...
Interesting seeing the different types of tomatoes/flowers.. Does one taste better than the other? The top ones are the ones we usually buy...
Hugs,
Betsy
what a wonderful sight ... ripe with promise
Looks like you will be enjoying a lot of tomatoes.
Sandra, that's a lot tomatoes These!! Lucky you! The flowers look like my avocado blossoms..I will check..so many times a storm with heavy wind will come and knock off the new buds? Anything you can grow like this I to be proud of! They are pretty photos as well! It will take me a moment to get over to your 4 paws- enjoy your evening:)
All your tomatoes are making me drool. We had a bumper crop last season, hope this year is as good. Of course the snow has to melt before we can do anything, haha!
