Judy in the Jungle
The residents of Jungle Gardens just know when humans appear they will have paid 3.25 for a small bag of food..... they JUST KNOW! '
put a little in the hand and they will eat and eat and eat....flamingo's, ducks and swans and fish and turtle, but that is tomorrows story.
Look at the flamingo head, they turn their heads upside down to swallow, they scoff up by laying the beak sideways in our hands and boy does it feel funny. then they do the upside down pretzel swallow thingy
Squawk! Judy, hand it over, where's the food??? Sorry, it is all gone, no matter how much you stare into my eyes buddy
No, not until I get your photo, smile pretty
Well, the flamingo did not smile, but Judy did and so did I safely BEHIND the camera
Flamingo is thinking"what is this snapping thing? where's the food?"

I have never done that. Maybe because I don't live where there are swans like that. I don't even think we have those at the zoo here. When I was in Florida at Bush Gardens many years ago, I saw them in the lake there free as .....well .... birds. They were so pretty with all the scenery around them.
I guess the underwing is black so that when they do fly they don't stick out like sore thumbs... although from above they would look like a fluffy pink blanket, if flying in a large group.
What fun! Love their little faces and beautiful colors!

I've never noticed how flamingos eat and swallow there food (plastic flamingos do neither). Your photos are excellent. It's just too bad the flamingo wouldn't smile for Judy.
Who knew that their underwing was black? Awesome! Is that your friend who went with you - pretty friend.
That flamingo (tagged as #12) got a belly full of food from me. I was his best friend.
I can tell that you used older photos to get the black underside of the wing because the flamingos were pinker than they were on Mothers' Day!
