Southern Folks 2

Above photo is a Redish Egret, found on Longboat last week (note: the photos are here for the bloggers in other countries or even states that have no idea what the writing is about)

Southern FOLKS know their summer weather report:
Hot 'n Humid
Hot 'n Humid
Hot 'n Humid

I was traveling through south Georgia yesterday and noticed a lot of signs saying “pecans ahead.” Wouldn’t “restrooms ahead” be more appropriate?
Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don't "HAVE" them,
you "PITCH" them. (YES, I have been known to pitch a hissie fit)

Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up "a mess."

Well how are you gonna cook supper if you don't know how much makes a 'mess'.

If you saw the pecan signs how about the pecan praline signs? Usually the praline was found at a store that had a restroom!!

I love the big bird!

It late so I thought I'd check on you before I crash. Pretty Sounthern images and thoughts. I'd heard those expressions like hissie and conniption in my own family..must of traveled far. Though it's still been humid here, we've experienced a change of coolness in the weather this past week..mostly at night.
Have a good day-

I know all that and more--like when choosing a husband, you always consider what his mother's silver pattern is!!

Best,
Bonnie

We call them hissie fits too. I've heard of desserts being called a mess. Love the heron.

All good southern women know a mess is a "good potfull." What size pot? Who cares? However much you need at the time.... I have pitched hissie fits and coniption fits in my lifetime. Ask my boys, who are now men. They are probably pitching them on their kids, thanks to me...Love those pecans and love those pecan pralines. Probably my most favorite candy. Love the heron. He/she is beautiful. Love you too. Madeline

Loved the shorebird. What kind? Your Southern observations remind me of a lady who married a southern boy and wound up in our south Mississippi church. When she was a new bride, her hubby voiced a desire to have okra for supper. She had never heard of okra. Eager to please, she located the southern vegetable at the grocery store and bought 2 pods, one for him and one for herself. By the time their first child arrived, she was well-versed in what constitutes a "mess," as well as her husband's preference on how to prepare okra.

LOVE this!! I forgot to tell you how I loved the southern stuff yesterday, too. These are your funniest jokes ever. And they are TRUE! It took us quite some time to figure out the pecan one! I love the hissie fit one!!!!! Hey, I'm putting all these together and recording them on the prayer line!! See how the birds knees bend backwards from ours?? That's because they are really his ankles, his knees are up so high you can't see. They bend that way so they can wade through the water sneaky without alerting the fish! I bet a lot of your followers have never seen this bird.

I'm now more convinced that Missouri is a southern state! :D I've been known to pitch a hissy fit. And around here they are also called pitching a b!tch. LOL! And we like to go catch a "mess" of fish!!
