Current Backyard # 3

For weeks, I have watched the stick above, waiting to see if it will bloom again.
We had 2 rains and the stick got new growth.
MadSnapper tracked the pods every single day

Saturday evening the pod looked like this. I told Bob, it will pop soon.
It rained Saturday night and Voila, 6 new blooms

MadSnapper Trivia
Remember the Robe Incident from 2 days back? Now, I will share the reason for the slop jar.

MadSnapper is afraid of the dark, have been since birth. There was no way I would go down the steps into a dark basement and out the door and down the hill to the outhouse IN THE DARK.. Daddy got the slop jar for me. He would not let me have it in the house, but placed it on the top step to the steps that went down into that dark basement with a dirt floor. The steps were the boards that have no back, just empty backs.
If I put my feet on the second step, something could reach through the back of the step out of the DARK and grab me. SO. Picture me trying to use that pot without putting my feet on the second step.. Sorry if that mind image just ruined your day. The Dark, to be continued.

I love the series of shots as the plant come to life and then flowers, that takes a lot of patience.

Oh my goodness, it's a wonder you weren't traumatized for life. Can't wait to hear the next installment on this story.

I have one of these...they're called Mexican Bird of Paradise. I brought some seed pods from Arizona when we moved to Texas and planted the seed pod...it's growing!!!

BOTTOMS UP is my Wednesday post link.

Gracious! Your stick certainly bloomed!!!

Very cute story from out of the past.

You poor little thing... Couldn't you get some adult to go down there in the daytime, and look and see what was sticking through the steps?

Probably just some wispy thing, on the top of some old thing. It could have been moved, and no longer bother you, at night.

-sigh-

Such a pretty series of photos! I can't wait to have blooms like that from the seeds you gave us. :) I feel for you! I wouldn't want to go in that basement! I was the same way about the dark when I was a kid.

What a lovely series of budding pictures. The plant looks like some type of fern? I had no idea they bloomed.

Slop pot of my word...they were hard enough to use on a flat floor I cannot imagine your predicament.

I'm glad you kept an eye on that stick. The blossoms are gorgeous.

My grandparents had an outhouse, but at least we didn't have to go down into the basement to get out.

That's the coolest plant. How do you find them? What is it??

Ha----my mind is imagining you and the slop jar... You need to write a book called "Little Sandra and her Slop Jar"... ha ha

Beautiful little flowers... What is that 'stick' plant anyhow??? Do you ever have to water your yard?

Hugs,
Betsy

I have found your story interesting...thank goodness I barely remember having to use an outhouse at home...but that is what we had the first 8 years of school.
