Lewis Park - Memorial Trees

Lewis Park has many memorial trees, some planted in memory of loved ones and some older trees that plagues have been added to. The building you see is the Manatee River Garden Club next door.

these photos are just a few of the small gifts people leave on the trees in memory of the person on the plague below the tree.

Memorial benches and plagues can be bought and added in memory of a loved one.

Wonderful idea, Sandra. I love seeing the Memorial Trees.... I have seen that done also at Christmastime---with Christmas trees being used as Memorials...

Hugs,
Betsy

What better way to remember a loved one than with the planting of a tree. All those little gifts are so sweet. Like Betsy I've seen them at Christmas time but never other times of the year.

This is so nice to see, and it's a lovely way to remember loved ones.
We've finally gotten some sunny weather this morning :-)
Have a great day!

There are memorial benches and trees in the community walled garden in the park by our library. A good way for folk to sit in that quiet spot and think of loved ones and a memorial gift that benefits other folk taking a rest in the garden.

I love that. The only place I've ever seen another memorial tree was up in Idaho once on a backroad. We came to an area where there was an Indian/White settlers war in the 1800's of which my great grandfather was a participant. At a place where it happened, there was a large tree with things made by the Indian people hanging all over it memorializing ancestors who died in that war. It was so interesting and so sad. The Indians got a raw deal from the whites.

What a touching post and to know folks are keeping memories alive with their plantings.

Interesting...

Never seen this, around here.

What we do see, are along the sides of roads... Where a bad accident obviously has happened... And people put crosses and artificial flowers and things, at the spot where it happened, I suppose.

Gentle hugs,
"Auntie"
