Purple Power Flower

Kings Mantle is it's name, Purple Power Flower is it's game. The day after the rain, it was covered in around 100 blossoms, but this one was hanging off by itself, calling my name.

I have no idea where my thoughts come from, but a couple days ago this popped in my head.

When we are on skis, we are skiing, on a sled we are sledding, on skates we are skating, but when we are in a car we are riding, not carring or in a truck we are trucking not riding. When we are in a plane we are flying not planing. Go Figure the English language.

one thought led to another and I thought when mother was canning the produce from daddy's garden, she was canning it not Jarring it although she was putting it in glass jars.

Also when she put the veggies in the freezer, she was Putting Up peas, although she was really putting them down in the chest freezer, not UP.

What a delightful flower. Do the hummingbirds love its trumpet shape?

Okay girl - it's late and I have no idea where you come up with those ideas - but they are something to think about. And the purple flowers are beautiful. sandie

Your thoughts are golden, dear!
Here in Portugal...there are no such big differences: If someone goes by airplane...she goes by airplane; by car...by boat, by foot - oh,then...she goes walking....

Those flowers are exquisite, my dear! Amazing!

Ah! the English language! My Italian husband can come out with some interesting alternatives to words and idioms!
That flower is delightful and well named.

That is a beautiful flower, I love the color.

The English language is a little weird on things like that. But then the Grateful Dead got it right with their song Truckin'.

The canning/jarring/freezing is more than my brain can handle this late at night. :)

The language is weird isn't it? The flowers are gorgeous :)

Purple power for sure. As to understanding English... forget it. I rely for grammar on my English teaching spouse...:)

Where and when did you come up with all of these ideas about the english language?

The English language can be quite mind boggling! Love the flowers!

The purple flower is beautiful! And I have no clue why the language is the way it is. It's also funny how the same word can mean different things.

I love purple flowers. These flowers make me think of Morning Glories. My Nana had a little side porch on her house. She would tack string up and down from the ceiling to the rail and Morning Glories grew all over it. It was so beautiful. Your musings make sense to me. I wonder about things like that sometimes too. Love ya, Madeline

Beautiful purple flowers... Language is tricky; and with English some expressions and words also vary between the US and the UK, not making it any easier for us poor foreigners!

My head was spinning from the beauty of your photography and the flower and what you were saying...

English is so difficult to learn and the spelling too. Home is spelled H-O-M-E, spelled like it sounds...right? But to spell COMB... as in hair comb, does not spell like it sounds... there are many others. Too mamy meanings for the same word too....

I can see why this purple flower shouted out to you. It's beautiful! I too am fascinated by all the twists and turns and inconsistencies of our English language. But I'm so glad it's my native tongue! I wouldn't want another one!

I'm sorry I'm so far behind here. I'm finally doing some catching up. These are gorgeous and so are the Queen of the night in the last post.
As for the octopus incident, I can see why he kept it quiet for so long....lol OH my I was giggling picturing him with it stuck to his arm. Not that it would be funny at the time. It had to have hurt a bit too. I would have been panicking

Love the purple power flower. I think up stuff like that too. If we have: one foot and two feet, why don't we have, one shoop and two sheep ?
