Lots A Latte

MadSnapper Recipe for Home Made Latte.. OK, first let me say I had no idea what a Latte was, and when I looked it up, this is not what one is... but for the purpose of this post, we will pretend it is a Latte invented by MadSnapper.

I am Cheap to the Bone... Thrifty, Penny Pincher, Tightwad... call it what you want. I refuse to spend Five Dollars for a cup of coffee, no matter what it is called.
I poured myself a cup of Maxwell House coffee, I make mine strong, very strong. I put my Cremora in, I added my sweetener... I dropped a couple of drops of Vanilla Flavoring and stirred.
From my collection of bottles, use any size you want to

I grabbed the bottle with the yellow top, I put just a sprinkle of sugar in it, poured it half full of Whipping Cream, tightened the lid and shake..shake.shake and shake again... pour that whipped cream on top of the coffee and OH YUM...
the fun thing is, you can customize... add chocolate, add a few sprinkles of instant hot chocolate, use what ever coffee you LOVE... get creative.. and you can have about 20 of these for the cost of One of the bought ones.

It looks good but not like a Latte. I don't drink coffee very often I find it too bitter so I have it half strength opposite to you.

I had to give it a try! I am slow in the morning and the last thing I want to do is drive the 8 miles to town for a machined powdered convenience store capuccino or another 12 miles to a fancy coffee shop. I ran to my fridge, got out my whipping cream and gave it a big shake then poured into my coffee... YUMMMMMMMYYY! This is the best recipe/hint! THANK YOU!!!

I am not a coffee drinker at all, but what you created sounds like the real deal to me.

i love coffee (folgers) and drink mine with a spot of milk. but i don't like flavored coffees. or sweetened coffees. or iced coffees. yup, all those trends are lost on me. :)

I'm with TexWis on this, no flavors or sweets, just some milk for me. But good for you being so inventive -- it sounds really good.

I drink coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon. At home I drink VanHoutte (out of Montreal) and when out Tim Horton's (a Canadian chain).

Never drink coffee... Lots of tea, but without milk.

I am with you on the $5 for a cup of anything. I am just a coffee with cream type of person, though.

My latte lover does a variation of your recipe but still frequents our favorite coffee shop several times a month as well.

The indulgence is a change from our extreme frugality of earlier years. A benefit of aging as long as we can afford it? Enjoy your MadSnapper lattes!

I love my coffee and lattes! Yours sounds delicious! I do buy the whipped cream in a can and it's so delicious! Most coffee houses are a huge rip off! My splurge is Dunkin Donuts medium coffee for 2 bucks. :)

Oh YUM! Do you know I had to ask my daughter what a cup of latte consisted of the other day? She said at the hospital (where she works) she and her friends are addicted! She said: "It is so good, Mom!" That is how much she loves them!
So...guess what? ....I am going to try your recipe! I am not into $5.00 a cup either.

Thanks for the information!

That's me. Strong coffee, no cream or sugar, and Folger's is fine. I'm not always cheap, but a cup of coffee is not something I'm spending dollars on.

WTG MS....WHAT A BRILLIANT IDEA...
YEARS AGO I USED TO STOP BY STARBUCKS EVERY MORNING ON THE WAY TO WORK FOR COFFEE.
ONE DAY ONE OF THE GRAD STUDENTS ASKED WHAT THE PRICE OF THE CUP OF COFFEE WAS. IN A FEW SECONDS HE SAID DO YOU REALIZE THAT IS OVER $500.00 A YEAR. AT LUNCH THAT DAY I BOUGHT A 15 DOLLAR 5 CUP MR. COFFEE POT, A CAN OF MAXWELL HOUSE AND WALA IT TOO BECAME A PENNY PINCER.

Oh my GOSH!!! The Mad one at her best! And I bet just THINKING about those five dollar cups made you shake even HARDER!! I am so glad I came here before my grocery trip in a few minutes. I am off to the grocery store, but thought I would just check you out first and leave the other blogs till I get home. I am SO excited! And here is just one reason...I always thought that to whip heavy cream, you either have to whisk it till you are nearly dead, or get out the mixer. And that is all way too much trouble for just a cup of ANYTHING! BUT if I can just shake it a bit in a little jar, HURRAY! I am off to add the cream to my list. I will be thinking all day of what I can add. WHY has no one ever thought of this??? YOU have made my day!!!!!

That latte looks pretty good.

Oh dear, when I worked! I would stop at DD's once a week to treat myself to a vanilla Chai and now I make my own!...:)JP. P.S. We are not cheap, Sandra...we are smart!!!...:)

I'm with you, I wouldn't pay $5 for a cup of coffee either which would explain why the only Starbucks coffee I have ever had was bought by someone else...lol
This sounds pretty good to me and it looks good too

This sounds pretty good. I drink my coffee black, so a latte has never really tempted me.

You are smart to not pay $5.00 for a cup of coffee. I do not like my coffee sweet so I do not drink Lattes. If I did though your recipe sounds like one I would try. Hugs

On the very rare occasions when I'm out and about and craving a double vanilla, skinny latte with three shots (espresso) I kick myself for paying so much for it. At home I add favored creamer to my coffee sometimes but had never thought about adding whipped cream and shaking. You are a genius.

The cup is totally cool.

I love a tasty hot beverages in the winter. Coco, Coffee with sugar and flavored creamers, also I am into hot tea regular or herbal. I did an experiment recently... I shaved off a few pieces of ginger root and put it in a pan of boiling water. Let it boil till the water changed color. Poured it in a mug and added a small spoon of sugar. Yum! Tastes good cold too.
